Sadly, the weekend is coming to a close. It's been a productive one with hints of spring. In fact, the weather the past two days has been nothing short of glorious. Yesterday we maximised the sunshine by spending the bulk of the day outside. Today I had a lot of meal prep to do for the week ahead so we couldn't spend quite as much time outside but we still took a long walk to the shop and got a lot of sunshine on the way.

I love spring. I love it so much. I almost love it more than fall. (I used to think that spring was my favourite season, but I've come to realise that fall has the edge). Still, spring is fantastic. The days get longer, the earth warms up, ducklings and goslings are about, and most importantly, the trees come back.

God damn do I love looking at trees. Do any of you feel the same way?
I'm exhausted. But the weekend has been good.

I feel like my tree love must be over the top, but surely there's someone else who loves them as much as I do?

We're going to the arboretum for mother's day for a picnic. I can't wait. I hope they're blossoming their pants off.

I still say pants all the time to refer to trousers. People must think I'm being inappropriate.

Um....

I'm very mad at that copy/paste job. The last line of my first post belongs at the end of my second.

What a bastard.

Oh oh, me! My favorite thing to do with the baby is take him outside to touch all the different tree bark and leaves.

Some of my favourite pictures of Evan are from the Arboretum in fall, where he's reaching out to grab the leaves.

I love trees so much.
(Also obsessed with plants and the moon, I feel like way more than other people)

This is a two-trunked tree at my parents' place. I think he was about 8 months

My mom was super obsessed with the moon. A friend wrote this about her :

It's perfect.

Nearly missed this. Love. How does he feel about grass?

Not that big a fan, actually! We tried it. But he has my sister's super-sensitive skin and I think it was too itchy.

He likes to brush it with his hands, but only if you hold him up off the ground like a little diva.

Evan doesn't mind it unless it's wet. He is still very much in an everything in my mouth phase and has been trying to eat it.

We are still enjoying weather in the teens and 30s fahrenheit and plenty of snow here. We start seeing tendrils of spring growth mid to late March here.

I like when trees get the blossoms for that short window in Spring.

Meant to say 20s but 30s too. Low tonight of 8F. Still firmly winter.

In one iteration of power rangers the black ranger is black, lol, and the yellow one is Asian, and the pink one is a woman, which I guess can kinda be construed as sexist in today's day and age.

I forgot to come back to this and explain the title. See, I used to work at Disney and lived in an apartment complex with a bunch of college kids who did the same. Made some great friends, one of whom lived above me. His roommate? The red power ranger. He never partied with us and literally every time I would see him, he'd be practicing his hyah poses.

Have I told you I used to work at an arboretum? For a while I was actually living in the arboretum too. I think one of my best years in terms of work was when my daily commute was to walk through the arb. Watching each tree each day and seeing the subtle seasonal changes play out was really incredible. I wish we had a nice arboretum here.

I didn't know that! How very jealousy inducing! What were you doing?

Working with plants, of course

I used to get park ranger as a response on many a career aptitude test. How do I get in the Arboretum game?

I'll settle for a good ass botanical garden even.

Most of them have a bunch of volunteer docent positions that might be a good start.

I wish. Those guys make good money. That was my backup career plan until everyone went and legalized it all. Kind of late to get in to that game now.

Ours is actually two hours away at the moment, but if I live near one afain, I'll definitely look into that.
