So we got this tv stand type cabinet at a thrift store.

Ive decided its my new project.

So, questions!

What color do you think i should paint it?

Also any tips or help would be appreciated. I've never done any kind of refurbishing. Im thinking, sanding, primer, paint?

I'm rather excited.

Show my your projects!

For wood, you need to remove paint (it looks thin so sanding should work), then primer, then sand again before painting (primer goes on a little rough). And of course it goes without saying to dust REALLY REALLY well before all the painting steps.

I think I'd see what the wood looks like before deciding whether to paint or stain, though! But I much prefer natural wood look to painted wood.

What color is the rest of your stuff?

Dark purple.

Wait, no! Clear! Then it won't clash with anything else.

If it's laminated composite woodchip or anything like that you don't want to wear out the outer surface.

you could strip it down with a strong solvent like nitromors, then repaint .

Back of it

Oh yeah, don't sand that. I was assuming it was wood-wood.

The white paint looks so thin that I might even just take my chances with not stripping it at all. Just lightly sand out any rough spots and paint over the white with whatever color.

distress it...paint over the white with another colour and wipe it off....trendy

I sooo hate the distressed look

I was thinking a navy blue. It seems weird. But also i like it?

I don't know. Maybe a midnight purple.

Its nice except for the finish though. I don't wanna wreck it with my projecting.

Yes. Definitely purple.

Like one of these?

Maybe like this? (I didn't have the patience to do a better job. It's really hard to do art with a track pad.)

Or this?

Or maybe you want to go in a different direction...

Oops I spilled some leopard on your carpet.

I'd go with a coral.

I'd go with whatever color is going to make you the happiest. If you want navy, that is probably bold enough to just paint over it.
