i was thinking about the book mason & dixon and when i read it
for like a month every night i'd read a chapter at least, and it was such a thing to look forward to. the whole period was suffused with that thing. it was winter and so comfy and it was this big thick hardback and so dense and wordy and unbelievably comfy and i remember that time so fondly

or i remember when twin peaks the return was on, the third season. looking forward to every episode and discussing theories and getting deep into the lore and world and having an a+ world class thing to look forward to every week

or when i finally played dark souls myself, and i'd take days off work to go home and play and do co op and stay up till 6am beating bosses and exploring levels and just getting so into a thing

that was nice

I remember almost none of my past. It's a mixed blessing.

I started going thru my old journals... it's a bit rough. I don't remember any of this stuff but I recognize the names of some of the commenters and even tho I can't remember any interactions with them I still have fairly strong emotional reactions to seeing their names, good and bad.

I forget, but I do not forgive.

Welcome back, Hael.

Thanks, Sprat. I definitely remember your name but I don't remember any of our interactions. I wish there were more people I remember still here. Do old members pop by fairly regularly?

I actually spent about a week trying to decide if I should come back or not. I could barely remember anything about my time here or how I left and .I saw 2 possible scenarios: all my old friends would still be here and would be really excited about me returning, or everyone would be really angry because I had been asked to leave for some reason and I forgot. Neither of those happened.

(Sorry for hijacking your journal, skyfish. Ever hear from that temp?)

I'll look back at this period as the skyrim obsession era. I know you don't like it much, but I'm a deep sea diver in that world. So many nooks and crannies to explore. So many powers to perfect. So many different ways to adventure.

Other recent notable obsesssions were Rudolf Nureyev and reading everything about him and watching all of his easily available ballet performances.
A return to the Manson family and reading every book about them and by them, studying their astrological charts, listening to their interviews and music they made.

I like obsessions too. It's stimulating research and entertainment and puzzles to solve.

My etsy favourite list is a pretty good indication of the times I became obsessed with stuff
And I pretty much get obsessed with everything - it's just my personality

That's how I feel about pretty much every book.

Pynchon is the kind of author I feel like I would like if I liked books.
