So I haven't smoked at all for a week, not even one puff. That's the longest I've quit in over 2 years .My all time record is 26 days and that's not even a real record. I cheated multiple times. That record is 26 days of trying to be quit .So in 20 more days I'll beat my false record .

Some of you might be getting tired of my quitting smoking updates but really that's the only thing I'm doing . I didn't do crap on my vacation except hang out with my dad and my friends .I couldn't concentrate enough to do anything productive .The last 2 days I've been at work but the withdrawals have subsided enough I didn't screw anything up thank goodness .

I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who has been supportive it really has helped . My new goal is to make it to double digits .I'm optimistic that will happen .

Does work smell worse now?
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 3:37:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
Congrats. It gets easier after the first two days (although it's still very difficult)

Are you using an e-cig or have you gone cold turkey?
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 3:54:59 AM EST (GMT-5)
It does get easier.

But never let yourself forget how hard it was at first...that's how you end up smoking again! You've put too much into this to quit quitting now.

Ahmed-not yet but it will

Wiggles-cold turkey with an assist from a 14mg step 2 nicotine patch

Spoon- I have to remind myself of that multiple times a day

If it helps to prevent you from falling off the wagon, please feel free to keep posting updates.

1 week is a significant milestone- - keep up the good work.

Great news fella - keep it up. As one ex-smoker to another, you're doing great!!
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 9:38:43 AM EST (GMT-5)
Wow great job. I'm not getting tired of the updates at all- I think it's awesome you're doing so well.

Holy pooballs, congrats!
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 9:50:12 AM EST (GMT-5)
Congrats!

I think it does get easier but it is still hard. You kinda have to live with the desire for one hanging over you forever.

It's been years since my husband and I smoked. But just yesterday we were sitting on our porch enjoying the rain. Daughters on our laps and hot coffee being sipped. We both were craving one. Because before those kids we would sit on the porch and drink coffeee together. So we chuckled about how it just doesn't go away.

Maybe that can help if you feel the urge is too strong and want to cave in. Your urge is a scar and it will fade with time, but it's never going to leave your body.

You've made it through the hardest part!

FOREVER?

26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 10:04:19 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't think it's forever. I don't crave them now at all, even when doing things I used to LOVE to smoke whilst doing (like sitting round a camp fire with a coffee).

About ten years for me so far.
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 10:31:45 AM EST (GMT-5)
Thanks for all the positivity guys.

I slept like crap last night, only got a total of 3 hours sleep. What I used to do when that happened was smoke a sh*t ton of cigarettes to compensate and stay alert.

The urge to smoke was killer.

So what I did was put on a second patch. Cheating? IDK and IDGAF. I haven't lit up so I'm still winning in my book.
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 10:33:40 AM EST (GMT-5)
The urge only hits me now once in a while.

On the other hand, revolt hits me once in a while too now, which I never would have thought possible.

When I was early stages pregnant and really sensitive to smells, the smell of anybody who had just smoked would literally make me gag and want to throw up. The sensitivity to smell has mostly dissipated but that one smell still hits me really badly sometimes. And it's weird because it's not the smell of smoke or someone smoking, but the lingering smell that sticks on a person afterwards.

Anyway, the important thing I learned from multiple times of quitting is that it's not worth the agony of the beginning of quitting to ever start back. I quit too many times before I quit for good.
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 10:47:09 AM EST (GMT-5)
I've been quitting every other week or so all year.

This time for sure!

You didn't have the baboon dream again, did you?
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 11:33:45 AM EST (GMT-5)
Different f-ed up dreams this time. No patch to blame it on though.
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 4:41:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
I love the updates!
I can't wait for the ten day.

Patches still aren't cheating.
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 5:01:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Patches are in no way cheating as you're not breathing crap into your lungs.

Keep up the good work!!
26 days ago - Tuesday 10/24/17 - 10:21:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
That's my attitude about patches too. I hate still having nicotine in my system but it makes quitting the habit of lighting up easier so I'll use them.

I was really tempted today but didn't give in. Going to bed now so I'll call day 8 successful.
25 days ago - Wednesday 10/25/17 - 1:39:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
Congrats! Im on day two. You got this!
25 days ago - Wednesday 10/25/17 - 11:08:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
Day 9 successful
