This week has been so long. And I'm so so so SO tired. Always. It's like it's just my personality now. Can that be a personality trait?

Since I got here, I've been really trying to be a Responsible Adult. Going to bed before midnight, spending most of my time doing work and ignoring fun stuff, blah blah blah. But I'm kind of terrible at it. I'm a night owl, no matter how much I try not to be. I get frustrated with my homework even though I'm not supposed to get mad at a piece of paper. My room is a mess even though it should be pristine.

I'm not good at this adult thing. So I decided for this week, fxck it. I'm not being a Responsible Adult. I'm just gonna be me instead, which involves drinking some crappy beer and watching Grey's, staying up most of the night, all that fun stuff.

Midterms next week. I didn't pick the best week for this experiment...

There's a kid in my Micro class and he is so. SO annoying. He asks the dumbest questions.

Observe:

Professor: "So, we are going to maximize profit."

Student: "Why?"

P: "Well, because that's what a firm wants to do."

S: "Why?"

P: "...Well... a firm wants to get the highest profit possible. That's the assumption we're operating under. So, we are trying to maximize profit to find out what the highest profit would be."

S: "But why do you think they want to maximize profit?"

His questions went on for a FULL HOUR. By the end, some kid screamed "JUST GO TO GODDAMN OFFICE HOURS ALREADY." It was intense and also insanely frustrating.

I've been making lots of bead animals. It's like riding a bike. You never forget how to do it.

Who here drinks Blue Moon?

I thought alcohol was forbidden at your residence...

Blue Moon is horrible stuff.

Who says I'm at my residence?!?!

Blue Moon isn't the best beer I've ever had, but it's certainly not the worst. I can think of a few others I'd pass in favor of Blue Moon...

Best tip about adulthood:
We are ALL faking it. Every single one of us.

Real adults don't drink Blue Moon.

So why do businesses want to maximize profit?

I think everyone doesn't really know what they're doing and getting by to the best of their ability. The idea of Trying to fit in a certain mold of this is how to adult can be tossed out. Go to bed when you want. If you are getting your sht done, who cares!? You don't have to wake to an alarm? Don't!
Have fun and do things you like. Not doing them is no way to live.

Well, economic models aren't always realistic. They give us a projection of how things work. A pattern.

Now. Sometimes, businesses may NOT want to maximize profit, for whatever reason. It's simply useful for us to assume they do, so we can see what their optimal choices are. And how they're related.

The majority of businesses DO want to maximize profit. Because you can use money to buy goods and services. So you want a lot of money to buy many, many things.

Also because SHUT UP AND STOP ASKING QUESTIONS, DEAR GOD, KID.

YOU GUYS ARE MY FAVORITE.

I need to start trusting myself a little more. I'm always worried I won't finish things, I won't manage to do things on time... when in reality, I always get everything done at least four days before any potential due date. I just need to chill a little and stop doubting myself at every turn.

It gives you a lot of options.

Just go to sleep everyone is always complaining about being tired. Hold yourself to a bedtime no matter what and after a few days of going to bed without everything done you'll stop procrastinating - forcing yourself to get 8 hrs will actually make you more productive.

Idk if you're even working rn but what they say about saving 10% of your check every pay period... I wish I started doing that before.

My tip is learn to cook or at least assemble food for yourself. Learn how to make decent coffee or tea if you like those.

I may not have much together in my life, but I can feed myself...

AND
it frustrates me when other people have to eat out or drink ALL beverages out of the house ALL THE TIME. This is a serious drain on money and usually not very healthy/nutritious.

No one is saying that one must have a well-appointed kitchen and cook 3 gourmet meals a day.

But if you can't make yourself a few options of healthy food or fix a simple sandwich or eggs or casseroles or salads or whatever...well, I judge you! (not you, sleepyhollow, but the universal you) SO JUDGED.
