Hi everyone.

Things are going okay here. I'm on 5mg of Lexapro now and that seems to be keeping all my brains in check when I can't. I like it. Been years since I was on a higher dose - I think this one's going to work out.

This week I lost a friend when she went into open heart surgery. It's been a mind-f*ck. Most of the time I'm okay, but I keep flashing back, mentally, to her last FB post. She was so nervous about the surgery she didn't sleep at all the night before. The last comment she typed was "We're on our way in. [to the hospital for the surgery]" And that was it.

I'm supposed to be being creative. I may be reopening my Etsy shop and I'm donating a bunch of jewelry to the United Way silent auction at work. Hoping to get a few things done but I'd also like to get some sewing done and maybe (cont)

do some coloring. Alex likes to color. I want to color on my sweary coloring book. I may do that while he's playing online. I DID find a service called 'SketchBox' - it's a monthly subscription for art supplies. I may have to take a look at that. Cuz omg art supplies.

Otherwise, this is finally a quiet weekend. Last weekend my bff and her family came down and we went to the KC Ren Fest. I may want to go again next weekend for the final weekend. Gotta get those turkey legs in while I can. AND it's supposed to be beautiful next weekend. Lately we've been hanging out in the 80's - it's October, ffs.

Quiet days, y'all. Quiet days.

That's terrible about your friend. I'm so sorry.

Thanks. She was sick for a very long time - she was doing at-home dialysis and her body just couldn't take it.

And yes, it's very good. I love their breakfast pizza. I'm kinda glad they're not closer to us now, but now they DO deliver.

Ours is super close, like less than a mile, but I hardly ever stop inside. Their baked goods are yummy too! It's fortunate I always forget about it. Or I'm too lazy to get out of my car....

I just looked at sketchbox and it looks so fun!

Haha...our's is about 2.5 miles away. But yeah - there are several places like that around here. Mostly cookie and ice cream shops. Thank god I'm lazy.

It does look like fun! But...kinda expensive. And Mike thinks we'd run out of room for it inside of 3 months.

So sorry about your friend twise
I have such trust in doctors and hospitals it is sometimes hard to remember that surgeries don't always go well

It's definitely something I'm struggling with now. I mean, my last friend who passed was an older gentleman who had been fighting cancer for like 3 years. The one before passed in her sleep - admittedly may have thrown a clot after a surgery, but she was 2 weeks after the surgery so it's not for sure (they didn't do an autopsy). The one before - again, cancer.

So it's...weird. Now I'm just...hoping I don't have to have a surgery at any time. I know that's unrealistic, but yeah.

That's really rough and I'm sorry to hear it. My mom's been dealing with some issues herself recently and had to have surgery and then go back a few days later for the same procedure because they didn't fix it 100%. So definitely feel you on being scared of surgeries and so sorry about your friend.

Also, I've always wanted to go to a ren fest. That's really awesome, I bet you had a good time. Did you take any cool photos? Did you wear a costume?

And, the guys at work split caseys breakfast pizza like once a week if not more

I wish we'd split one more often. Occasionally on Fridays someone will bring one in.

Bank holiday today - so Mike n' I got to stay home and Alex had to go to school. We watched a bunch of movies we knew he wouldn't like (he's tryin' real hard to be an "adult" but he's afraid of the word "sex", bras and all curse words).

And yes - we love the ren fest. This year, Mike surprised me for our 15th anniversary - we renewed our vows with about 30 other couples - a few were having their actual ceremony there. It was totally cute. We won a couple of hand-made sterling silver dragon bracelets as door prizes.

This is of the ceremony - it was cute cuz Alex got to participate with us, so it was a nice "family" moment.

To answer your question, though - we don't dress when we go. It's usually a) too damn hot and b) the actors/villagers aren't as fun if you're in garb; they think you work there! So that's no fun.

It's fun when people think you work there and want pictures.

That is true - but I've never had garb that good. Lol
A friend of mine and her boyfriend have AWESOME garb - so they had people asking for pics last year when we went. The couple you almost can't see standing in front of us were having their real ceremony - and they were decked out wonderfully.
