I became a Youthink.com member on February 15, 2004 when I was 13. I used it for a couple years and last logged in somewhere in 2006. I forgot about it for years, let connections I made dwindle, and my main online persona transitioned to Myspace as I transitioned into high school. But my Youthink profile remained in the forgotten folds of cyberspace.

While I went through high school, grew up, found my passion, lost my virginity, began college, finished college, started a career, fell in and out of love, and succeeded and failed all over, this little corner of online persona stayed put.

And then I remembered it. My password long forgotten, it took me one try for my security questions, carefully selected nearly 14 years ago in case this happened. Like opening a digital attic, I began brushed off the dusty archived messages and journals. Finally I decided...this will work.

People come back and then they leave again. Rips my heart out every time

Well, I'm back now! What has happened on here in 11 years? How have the long-term members of Youthink dealt with the rise of facebook and twitter and other such social platforms?

Hi person!

I have a FB, yet don't use it. Well, maybe to background check potential boyfriends, just to make sure they're not married. (Do guys totally forget about their FB pages when they're out scouting for a cheat'tation?)
I have never had any of that other stuffs.
I'm finding that forums in general are dying. Not just YT. I wonder why.

Like honestly, people keep leaving and I wish more would stay.

I wish we could unban some of the legends who made this place fun. Not the kiddie fiddlers but some of the p.rn posters whose banning were borderline but merely questionable.

Man I'm getting carried away nowb

Nobody uses forums anymore. Kids have their facebooks, instagrams, snapchats, and all that bullsh*t now.

But you can't have a CONVERSATION on those platforms. It feels more like tossing gum out the window.

Sure you can!

Nuh-uuuuuuh.

I mean, I like the 'let me share my soul with you' evironment that YT has, that I don't think you can get from Twitter or Instagram. Maybe FB, but it seems a lot more dramatic on there.

That's partly what I came back to do. The level of anonymity, however small and changeable, is nice here. You all will like or hate me for what I say rather than any preconceived notions of me as a person, except for what you read on my limited profile. It paradoxically feels like a homecoming.
