Although in this situation, I sort of doubt it.

I'm on lunch and I checked my facebook and I have a weird private message from my friend J. She has been living with her friend and husband's cousin for a while now as she and her husband have been living on his disability payments for a while now (he is truly sick) and they can't afford to get their own place.

Anyway, the friend's sister has been living there also and she brought some ex-felon home and apparently my friend J and her husband fear for their safety and she is going to send out a message to three people before 12pm every day on fb and if we don't get the message, we're supposed to call 911?

I don't like being put in these situations. If it's unsafe, get out of there. What would I even tell 911? Her parents live here in town, it's not like they have no one.

Isn't this weird?

I have often wanted to help these two financially, but any help she gets, she is totally unappreciative of and I'd be afraid that she would try to take advantage.

I love her as a friend, but she's a trainwreck of epic proportions financially and personally. She is always involved in drama with her family and other friends, though we've never had a problem.

I think she's interviewed for a couple of jobs recently, but girl has dyed her hair HOT pink and her teeth need major work, so I know she doesn't show well at interviews.

maybe they don't have a clue...

I would tell her that you are calling 911 today and reporting it as a potential abusive situation, they can come do a welfare check. And then you wipe your hands clean. She can't expect you to be the keeper. The guilt that you would potentially feel if you didn't protect her before something happened.
And he isn't an ex-felon.. once a felon... always a felon. But what kind of felon? like a violent felon? or what? that is too broad.

I don't know!

She said he's covered from head to toe in tattoos, but they have several tats themselves, so.

Her friend she's living with has 4 children and is neglectful enough that CPS has been called multiple times.

I don't even know why she sent it to me; I only check fb once or twice a day.

my teeth need work. Does that matter for jobs? That seems... icky.

Though hot pink hair is a duh.

I think I'm going to dye mine deep red soon. But I'm not looking for a job.

I think the 911 thing is good for one time things. I used it for "I'm meeting a guy at 6pm, if you don't hear from me by 8pm, I've been murdered".

But ongoing is just... get out of that

I think this is the right way to go.

If not 911, at least contact the police using the non-emergency number and report the situation...

She literally has a broken tooth right in the front; it's a sliver of tooth and I'd pull that sh*t out myself if it were me and I couldn't afford the dentist.

She's an exaggerative person, so I'm not sure if this is a legit thing or not, tbh.

She has problems literally everywhere she goes, just fyi.

What if calling the cops out pisses off this guy and then he DOES do something to them thinking they called?

It's not a good situation to put someone else in.

My boss is being stupid today, too, ugh.

She's the one that put herself in that situation, not you...

Yeah, but she didn't ask me to call the cops preemptively.

Maybe you can pretend you missed her message...

Nah, I replied to it and just told them to stay safe.

That seems like a lot of responsibility dumped on you.

Bad teeth can make you look low-class.

I've always been super conciseness about it because a lot of the people I gre up around had bad teeth and it was a huge marker of income bracket.

I mean, they don't always, but when you've got missing, broken, rotten, or extremely discoloured teeth it's like wearing a t-shirt that is plainly 20 years old and has a few bleach stains.

I wish I could get that into my sons head! He has to go for round two of braces but the orthodontist won't put them on until he masters brushing a lot better.

Yeah, what the hell, that's how I feel.

They need to do something to get themselves out of that living situation rather than just talk about it. Swallow your pride and live with your parents for a minute if you have to.

That was today's message...might not see tomorrow's before the deadline...

Every time I feel something hit my mouth or bite something accidentally that isn't chewable I start freaking out because I'm so scared of my teeth getting hurt.

Like I legit start to panic/cry until I see a mirror and check them because I'm so scared of not being able to pass as refined.

Growing up poor f*cks with your head.

I'm self conscious about my teeth now.

Snaggle toothy-ness isn't really that big of a deal, as long as they're clean.
