He was walking from store to store in the mall asking if he could write a poem. He'd ask for a topic, sit outside for five minutes, then walk back in and recite it. I had him write me one about libraries. He also showed me some cool beadwork he did.

Then some lady - who I had helped find tea before - brought me some Greek tea. I'm not 100% sure what the plant is but she showed me how to brew it. I'm going to try tomorrow, I'll report back on whether or not it kills me.

This week, we are celebrating my grandma's birthday by taking her to a Twins game up in the cities!

My mom and dad were grand marshal in our local parade. They drove the tiny car:

I wanna dye my hair pastel purple.

Sup?

Huh. That picture is upside down.

Not sure why.

Meh. I'm leaving it.

Dye it. No reason not to.

not that you need it, but I fully support the dye job
10 days ago - Monday 7/17/17 - 12:22:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
Do you have to bleach it first?
10 days ago - Monday 7/17/17 - 12:25:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
I would have to bleach it first.

The only worry I have is that it wouldn't look professional enough. Like... if I end up getting some kind of real people job in D.C., should I not have dyed hair? Thoughts??

I think you'll find a job just fine.
10 days ago - Monday 7/17/17 - 2:26:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
What sort of real people job were you thinking of?
Because people are pretty okay with weird hair these days in lots of professions

I've seen old ladies with purple hair.
If grandmas can, so can you. Go for it.
10 days ago - Monday 7/17/17 - 7:50:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
I guess it depends on what kind of real person job you are looking to get

it sounds good to tell you to go for it, but I would honestly hold off for now if getting a job is a concern

Keep the poem.
He could become a super famous creative, who came from super humble- if not quirky- beginnings.

Lady friend wants to get that colour purple hair too.
10 days ago - Monday 7/17/17 - 12:50:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'll consider the hair.

I'm definitely keeping the poem. It's really cool! and the dude was nice, if a little unhinged.

Some random dude drew my friend once while he was chilling in a café. He gave it to him when he was done, and my friend thought it was pretty cool. Pretty sure he has it up in his room.
How was the poem? Good?

Depends on the job, for the dye job. A job at a café or Hot Topic? Probably no problem. As a secretary for a dental office or something? Probably not as safe.

By the time I read about the posts about hair I completely forgot about the poem and I kept reading poem as perm.

Keep the perm, Sleepy.

I would love a poem about a library.
Good choice.

It's easy to go back to a natural color, do the purple.

Also, more about tea, please.
I've never had the yorkshire red and meant to ask about it in the other journal but forgot. I had a friend that lived half the year in London and he always brought me back yorkshire gold and I loved it. He'd get himself twinnings and that was pretty good but they sell that here now so that's my go-to grocery store tea

My best friend when I was a kid died her hair pastel purple when we were in high school and it did not turn out well, tbh.

Her hair is pretty close in color to yours, too.

I would suggest doing one of those dark purple dyes (no bleaching) because the same gal did that once and it looked amazing.

Can you go to a professional to get your hair dyed? I feel like with bleaching and pastel colours that's the only way you'd be sure of a good result.

Also, as a person who used to bleach her hair, don't underestimate how annoying your roots will be when your hair grows out.
