I walk to the train about a mile and a half every morning around 3am. I always have this strange fear of a wild animal, such as a lion, tiger or bear randomly showing up on an empty street, and me not being able to avoid a certain death because where the f*ck can I hide at 3am?
It's dumb...it's like a 5 trillion to 1 shot, but what if?

Do you have any weird improbable death scenarios like that?

I get occasional fears of having cancer or some disease, asymptomatic, and then I find out I have a couple months to live.

Or one day I just have a stroke and drop dead. That happened to my mom's cousin when he was one year older than I am.

An aneurysm or stroke?

That's one of those freaky things I think about.
Think more unlikely though.
Like stepping into an empty elevator shaft and falling 90 floors to your death. Lol

You know, it may have been an aneurysm. I think he complained of a headache beforehand, but I might be wrong.

Every time I hear a low register booming noise outside in the distance, I imagine it's a T-Rex and it's ravaging the neighborhood and will soon come and stomp our house to pieces.

That's more like it!

That's what happened to my best friends 25year old cousin.
He told his mom he was going to lay down, she turned around to finish cooking, and he fell down and was dead...just like that.
Football injury from college, led to clotting.

Freaky medical stuff, man. Yeesh.

My ex's cousin (what is it with cousins?) had an aortic aneurysm and dropped dead when he was 17. Went to take a nap, never woke up.

This.

when I close my eyes in the shower I'm always thinking how there's probably going to be a murderer or monster thing there to kill me when I open them.
but my fears have reduced since I moved into a house with a glass shower wall rather than the curtains you can't see through.

And I don't get sick much but when I do (like right now) I do think it's some underlying serious illness that's going to kill me, when really it's just a bad cold or something

Everyone fears death. Even religious people. They're lying if if say they don't.

And the reason for this, is that dad was asymptomatic, except for a sore shoulder. He went to his chiropractor, who took x-rays.

The chiropractor gave him the film, and told him to go see his doctor.

Cancer everywhere. He passed a month later. 59.

I used to always fear the deep end of the pool drain monster.
I think that's a more common one though.

That we're in a simulation and the creators are going to decide to shut me off.
Or that they'll decide to do something really weird...like make my ceiling suddenly fall down and crush me.

Or that the universe in general will suddenly end.

Every single time I have a headache I'm convinced I'm having a brain aneurysm.
I'm trying to think of really unrealistic ones I have.

Whenever my husband is away I'm convinced I'm going to wake up in the middle of the night with someone standing over me. That's only when it's just me though.

I hate ceiling fans because I always think they're going to fall on me.

We have a gas stove in the house we're living in right now. I hate it. It has that thing where you have to push it in to turn them, we have carbon monoxide detectors in multiple places in the house, and I am constantly checking to make sure it's completely off, but I STILL worry constantly and freak out whenever I think I smell any kind of weird smell.

Sometimes those sounds remind me of sounds in that Tom Cruise remake of War of the Worlds (I think...I only saw that movie once when it came out but the sounds stuck with me) so I have a split second thought of the possibility of an alien invasion.

Shak's reminded me that I do really randomly get freaked out thinking that the world is going to explode, or go into a black hole, or something is going to happen.

I told this story before.

When I was a youngster, say 5-7, the older kids in the neighborhood told me that dragonflies would sew your lips shut.

I still do not like them, even though I know they're harmless.

My Mom was so intense with the "If a stranger says anything to you and you reply they will follow you home and KIDNAP YOU" when I was a kid that I would cry whenever we had to go out, and had nightmares about strangers asking me questions. Not trying to kidnap me. Just saying hi or asking me if I wanted candy.

Not to freak you out or anything, but it isn't as unrealistic as it sounds. We had a lion roaming around Milwaukee for a while last year...

That's the poo that makes me think about it. If it were during the day, I'd be fine...more things to distract it and people to outrun, so it gets them instead of me

My low level fear is hearing a boom and thinking it's an atomic bomb starting world war three.

I remember overhearing my mum talk about beain aneurysms and thaf people would just say they had a headache and then die. I was little and was terrified of tellung anyone if I had a headache because I thought it was telling someone about if thaf would kill you...

As an adult, I'm mostly scared that weird noises that I ignore will turn out to be serious and I'll find all my pets dead when I could have saved them if I'd just bothered to check out that weird noise..
