The bf wants to get away and go camping this weekend at Devil’s lake, Wisconsin. The park is likely to reach the new safety capacity limit quickly so we might get turned away. That would be good because I don’t want to camp in a tent. There are bugs and others things. No fun.

I have gone camping. We didn't have a real tent, just a make shift tent made from tarps.

Bug spray.

Will you be hiking as well? Comfy shoes that have good ankle support, and many pairs of socks to change. I cannot stress enough about the comfy shoes. I still have calluses from my blisters.

Only if there is a trailer with A/C and a buttload of beer.

I actually really want to go in a camper sometime. I wish campers weren't such pains to maintain. You can always rent one, though.

Thanks Damsel for the advice! Yeah, we will probably go hiking. Been there before and went hiking and scuba diving. It was okay, just didn't like sleeping in a tent. There were giant raccoons trying take our food!

Right there with you, Rag Doll!

A/C and beer and no bugs and no campfire to cook stuff. Go get food.

Keep the food in the car if it is close enough to your camp spot or hang it up, I guess? We didn't have trouble with that. I think sleeping in a tent is OK for a night or two as long as you are warm enough and have a cushy enough sleeping bag.

Just please be careful about ticks also. Check each other for ticks real good.

Never saw the plus side of volunteering to eat and pee outside.

I really grew up playing in the woods just outside my front door, so camping was never appealing to me.

Camping was always a fun family activity for us, and we did it a lot. It just seemed normal, and I was surprised when I got older and learned that some people had just...NEVER camped.

I like hiking and used to like semi long bike rides but at night i want to sleep on my comfy bed and not have anything with wings or fur biting me.

Going to a campsite where people are packed in almost more densely than they are in the city seems artificial and stupid.

I'm not a big fan of outdoorsy things.
But I tried going camping with friends as a teenager in the middle of nowhere and I ended up sleeping in the car because bugs love me.
I also once had to pee in the bushes while hiking and I literally cried.
Buy a shewee if there are no bathrooms. I've heard it's a life saver.

Ha! Shewee! That is so cool and funny. I should get shewee extreme.

We haven’t gone camping yet. I have been too busy with work doing evaluations of buildings damaged from the protests/riots in Chicago. Thanks for everyone’s advice.
