Yeah, shouldn't I be the one being accused of being ageist? (which lol, I'm the sole person on here that makes any sort of remark against people talking sh*t about the elderly, ever)

I don't care what age a person is (I share an office with a 75 year-old who is great and willing to learn), but if they're unwilling to learn, f*ck 'em.

I absolutely cannot stand this because some of these things are so easy to do once somebody shows you, but people like this do everything possible to just push it off onto someone else rather than actually learn how to do it.

Yes exactly. My mom (as I said) is close to this woman's age (well, around 10 years younger, but certainly a Boomer). She has (also like this woman) been in (mostly) the same position for over 30 years now. The difference is, she's also bothered learning the new technology as it's been adapted. She's gone from cassette tape dictation machines, typewriters, and literal carbon copies to Windows 10 and everything being done on the internet/via email. And magically, she never has to shove her own work off on someone else because of it!

Agreed. From a baby boomer. Google, you tube and others have all sorts of instructional videos and tutorials out there. No excuse.

And I don't care, either. But it's 100% absolutely considered more acceptable for a 75-year-old person to have not learned modern technology than it is for a 35-year-old person. If someone my age tried to get her job, and had as piss-poor computer skills as she does, they'd be laughed out of the interview, because that's PART OF THE JOB. Yet for her, it's clearly overlooked.

That's because they don't want to appear ageist.

Bird didn't even mention age until she was directly asked if the other woman is a baby boomer. She had even complimented her on her PR skills just not her computer skills (or lack thereof in this case)

Make all the excuses for Bird that you want. Her words were very clear how the woman's age was the issue, and if she were to give up the job to someone younger, things would be better.

...and don't think for a second that Bird would have let it go had someone like me made a negative comment about someone's age in the workplace.

I thought it clear that the other woman's refusal to update her skill set into the 21st century was the issue.

Nope- - she clearly stated that the problem was the person's age, and someone younger should take her place.

That's horrible, bird. Would you put in a complaint? I have such a bad headache because my phone's brightness is way too high, even on the lowest settings. Does anyone know if there Is there a decent app that I can get to dim the screen further?

I've used f.lux on a laptop. Not sure if they have it for phone use.

I'm not sure if F.lux is available on all android phones, but there's an app called Twilight blue light filter that has excellent reviews.

I'm reading some of my oldest journals as Rag_Doll_ and I got so tickled I almost spat my yogurt out all over my keyboard over something *I* said, lol.

My complaint is that I think I used to be funnier on here, maybe.

Look @ this terrible thing that cpayne said to me in one of my journals almost 6 years ago:

"You know what I think? That Jamie Foxx deserved that best actor Oscar that year. Whoever played Howard Hughes in the Aviator was great, he just not quite there is all."

Because I point out that you are an ageist because of the things you said?

Funny how you make it a point to go around hanging seriously negative (and potentially damaging) labels on people with no consequences Bird, but then go apesh*t when you find yourself on the receiving end...

Just honestly...if you can't be f*cked to learn the necessary technology as it becomes standard, get the f*ck out of the workforce and let someone younger and more adaptable take your job. It would make literally everyone's life a lot easier. I had to do probably a good hour's worth of unnecessary work today because of this bullsh*t and it is 100% her fault. Nothing about anything I did was difficult in any way, she's just never f*cking bothered updating her skills and somehow that's considered acceptable because she's old.
