If someone came to visit you, what favourite places near you would you want to share with them?

For me :
Cardiff
Bristol
Bath
St Fagans
Westonbirt Arboretum
The bird sanctuary

St Fagans is basically a national treasure, as it is an open air museum of Welsh life, with recreations of houses going back 600 years. They light fires in the houses making it actually a lovely way to spend a dreary day, in spite of the walking in the rain. And there's a castle /Manor House with the loveliest garden.

Westonbirt is a beautiful Arboretum with ancient trees.

And the bird sanctuary is quite close and is a lovely place to go for a nice walk by the sea.

I haven't found any restaurants of note in my city, but there are a few in each of the above cities, although personally I tend to want to try something new.

Yes! I remember you mentioning this ages ago but couldn't recall the name. It's in Caerleon, right?

Back home, I'd take you out to Five Points, not necessarily because it's impressive but because it played a big part in my college years. And to the Vista. For food, I'd take you to Motor Supply Company and Andys Deli. And it's not too far out of the way to drive into Charleston for the day, and totally worth it.

If you came to me in Seattle, I'd take you to the Pink Door, and to Carkeek Park (and if Mt Rainier were out we'd go to magnuson park). I'd also show you the fremont troll.

If someone was going to Vancouver I would tell them to go:
-Lynn Canyon for a nice walk/hike/picnic/suspension bridge (with no cost)
-quarry rock for easy hike and the view (but only very early when there are less people)
-kayaking at deep cove
-walk the sea wall at Stanley park or bike it!
-science world
-aquarium

Eating places:
-meet on main
-trees organic (have the cheesecake, sit by the windowsill)
-the dark table (if you like an adventure)
-honey’s donuts
-whitespot and have a legendary (this just reminds me of childhood)

Obviously if you visited me in Orlando, I'd take you to Disney. But also to El Patron, my favorite restaurant there. And maybe to clearwater beach.

Close to Caerleon but I think technically in Newport. there's a really cool Roman Amphitheatre just down the road too.

I would take someone to The Royal Observatory first for the views over London, then walk through Greenwich Park to The National Maritime Museum and the Old Royal Naval College built by Christopher Wren. Close by is the Cutty Sark sailing ship. Then a trip to Docklands on the DLR to see the old docks and the new developments around Canary Wharf.

I would also add:
Van dusen gardens
Bloedel conservatory

Dallas/Fort Worth is interesting in that depending on the person I would take them different places...

Pretty much every person that has visited me though I have taken to see the cattle drive in Fort Worth and the Stockyards...if you've never seen a long horn or a proper cowboy before it's always a fun "Texas" type tourist thing to do.

Then Mexican food...particularly a taqueria called "El pinocho"...they speak zero English and we are always the only white people there but the tacos are the best you will ever consume and the horchata is too good for words

For history buffs I like to go to the 6th floor museum that overlooks the grassy knoll... Where JFK was shot

My town has just been voted the worst in the country. The top 8 are all in the north. I don't think anyone would come here.

There are some good things though.

I'd take you to Castle Hill (I've posted pics of it a couple of times before)
I'd take you to see the mast. It's only 5 mins walk away.
There's the sculpture park a 10 minute drive away
If you have kids we can take them to on the light railway. (Thomas the tank engine, a mini flying scotsman and other cool little trains run along a track across the surrounding villages)
And if you fancy a drink, burger and alternative music (punk, metal, emo etc.) my favourite bar is the absolute best!

The planetarium
The aquarium
Just places ending in ium

And this weird little abandoned garden/playground place that is just so weird and very peaceful but a little eerie at the same time

I'd probably take them to either Coffs Harbour or the Gold Coast, cause people like beaches..
There's also a pretty cool pub/cafe in my village I usually take people to because it's in a great location
That's sorta it.. people don't really come here unless the Jacarandas are blooming

My Dad used to always take visitors out to this rock tunnel that was carved out by convicts though..

Garth Hill is a nice place to walk if you haven't done it - it's in Taff's Well/just north of Cardiff.

It's also the "mountain" in the story/film The Englishman who went up a hill but came down a mountain. (though it wasn't filmed there).

Come to think of it, I'd probably take people to Dorrigo for the Crystal Falls hike - it's all rainforesty and junk

Oh I have SO MANY

First, my favorite little coffee shop

Then, the Smithsonian museums

then, my little neighborhood because it has pretty houses and so many Christmas lights

And then my favorite Chinese restaurant down the street with the dim sum

there are good restaurants all over where I live, so you can’t really go wrong there

then there’s LSU’s campus which is really pretty
especially in the spring

our capitol buildings downtown are good visits
both the old and the new

if you are interested in plantation homes, there are quite a few around
the myrtles is neat if you are into spooky sh-t
houma’s house is good if you’re just interested in seeing something huge and extravagant

you just have to be prepared for the tour to not necessarily acknowledge the sh-tty aspects of the home’s construction

I’m sure some do, but I feel like most don’t

and of course new orleans is right down the way, so you can go hang in the quarter for good sights, food and drinking

there are also a lot of neat museums
probably the best one being the ww2 museum
