Election Day is 3 weeks away in the US. For the American YTers, do you have a plan to vote? Have you checked local races/referendums as well? What's the most important issue for you?

I've got all my humans measured out, still need to go over all the referendums and whatnot. Big pile to read through this round that's for sure.

How to get a billion dollars so they listen to what I say.

We just voted municipally. There were too many candidates for mayor and councillors and it was overwhelming. The only thing I felt confident on was the school trustees.

I hope your election goes smoothly!

My fiancée will be over here in the UK for it, so has already put in her request for a postal vote. I'm looking forward to seeing what's on it in terms of local issues/races: we don't get that level of democracy here!

I've used it before. Tends to do a pretty good job!

I mailed in my ballot yesterday.

Medical marijuana is on the ballot here and inspite of objections from the Mormon cult, it's likely to win. (Prop 2. I voted yes of course. My neurologist has already told me she'd prescribe it for my migraines if she could)

Prop 4 would create an independent commission to set district boundaries with the idea of keeping areas intact instead of gerrymandering the hell out of them. Another yes.

so, the republican gubernatorial candidate in new york has an autistic son that he's leveraging for votes...

and the candidate running against gillibrand is running on tax reform things.

and the incumbent house representative seems to have voted fairly centrist.

I'm worried about my vote. I registered for an absentee ballot but it's via email and I haven't received any confirmation. I also didn't receive an email ballot for our recent special election but I may have registered too late for it.

I always vote absentee because Mom and I work at a different polling place from where either of us vote. We have the federal and state races, a local one that I vote in and she doesn't (different towns), and two questions. I know how I want to vote on everything except the questions (need to re-read them and make sure Yes and No actually represent the answers I think they do...this is something I hope everyone does, especially after Prop 8).

Keeping Tim Kaine is most important to me, and doesn't seem like it'll be a problem.

My house rep is terrible, but our district is far from competitive so it would be a huge deal if he got fired (he won't). I'm voting for the other guy anyway of course (not just as a lesser of two evils, i really like him both as a candidate and a person). But I'll be surprised if the margin isn't double-digits.

how do you find the propositions for your state?

is it possible that new york doesn't have any?

I'd run searches on your county or state's sites. Our's is via the Georgia SoS gov page.

Unless there's something specifically local to you, it doesn't look like NYS has any ballot measures this time.

I can't believe people are still falling for trickle down after all these decades.

And these f*cksticks claim to be fiscally conservative while driving up the deficit.

You should still do what Mr Bungle said though, in case there is a local something or other. For example, we have a special election for Town council that's too insignificant to show up on Bpedia or anything like it.
1 month ago - Tuesday 10/16/18 - 2:32:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
We'll go vote as soon as early voting opens and get it over with. I'm still looking into the local referendums, but the Senate race is most important to me in this election.

Anybody know what voting looks like in VA? Is it a sharpie on paper like CA or those stupid light-up machines like Philly or something else?
