What are your favourites and least favourites if you have any?

Do any food cultures appeal to you?

I heard that cultural appropriation is wrong. People must eat only foods from their own culture.

I think my least favourite choice for eating out is Inian and Italian. It's not that I don't like Indian or Italian food but when you go to an Indian resteruant it costs at least £3.00 for every little thing you order and the main dish has about 3 chunks f meat swimming in a plate of sauce.

In London most Italian resteraunts serve 5 kinds of Pizza and 5 kinds of Pasta and they are all the same and f*cking garlic bread.

I like Tex more than Mex. BBQ ribs and steak rather than refried beans and Guacamole

German food: Bratwurst, Currywurst, Jaeger and Zigeuner Schnitzel. Brat Kartoffellen (a bit like home fries) Reibecuchen (Fried potato pancake served with apple sauce).

I love Italian. I'm pretty much a huge sucker for pastas (our favourite place to go for Italian has the best baked gnocchi) and garlic bread.

Favorites - Thai, Fish grills.

Least favorite - BBQ places, Indian food.

I really dislike spicy food, because I really don't like killing my taste buds and because it makes my ucers cry.
And I love argentinean/german cuisine (shocker!)

I love Mexican, BBQ/Southern, Italian, Spanish, and Greek.

None I really dislike.

Oh also love Japanese

Favorite: Greek, Lebanese, Vietnamese.

Least favorite: Korean, but I only had it twice.

There was a great Greek place near to my house but it closed down when they demolished about 2000 homes around it.
There's more apartments built on the dite now.

What really changed things for me was when I went from hating cilantro to enjoying it. Opened up a lot of culinary doors.

I'm not a fan of Italian restaurants either; Indian can be variable, but it's easy and cheap to get decent Indian ready meals in supermarkets, which suffices for most curry urges. Chinese seems to be harder, supermarket stuff just can't compare with a restaurant...

My favorite food is Italian, followed closely by Mexican. I also like Chinese and Japanese, but the stuff that most Americans like, nothing weird, and I don't do sushi.

In London at least, Chinese food suffers from the budget market. Hundreds of all you can eat chineze buffets serving really crappy food of varying quality. The ones serving good food went out of business first and over the past few years a lot more of those chains collapsed. Wong Kei is still going strong living on its reputation for the rudest staff in London.

I like americanised Chinese food better than anglicised Chinese

Favourite: Japanese [bento, rather than sushi], Lebanese, Thai, Persian, Indian, Malay, Vietnamese, Spanish.

Least favourite: Italian, Mexican, French [too much cream], Jewish, Eastern European [too much potatoes!], English [urgh],

What do you see as the difference?

I think that the UK got Cantonese//Hong Kong style food first and then tastes of other regions after they gott bored of that.

I'm not sure if I could put my finger on it but menu offerings are definitely different in the states. And both sweeter and spicier I think.

So much this!!

My least favourite is probably Indian. There aren't many curries that I like. Makhani is my favourite but I'm not a fan of anything spicey.

I suspect the original influence in America was from Shanghai whereas in the UK it was Hong Kong, but then each would adapt to the host countries taste.

The sweeter and spicier dishes have been introduced over the last 20 years here. Actually many of the cheap tourist buffets serve a lot of chilli laden food because it stops people from eating too much.

favorites: japanese, italian, french

least favorites: general midwestern-ish american cuisine. the bland meat and potatoes (and maybe boiled vegetables on the side) stuff. and i don't like the average mexican restaurant in america, though they aren't representative of all mexican cuisine. I'm talking those restaurants where they just throw a bunch of beans and cheese onto/into everything with iceberg lettuce and it's also pretty bland.

and I'm not a big fan of German food in terms of the savory stuff I've had. Desserts are different story!

favorites: japanese, italian, cajun, creole

least favorites: I’m also not into bland midwestern flavors, but other than that there aren’t really any types of dishes that I dislike enough to list out here

Mexican.

Christmas tamales are coming
1 month ago - Tuesday 12/19/17 - 4:33:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
Christmas tamales!!

I will defend Indian to the death. The problem is there's so much pressure on their restaurants to be standardized and cheap. But a good Indian restaurant that represents a regional sampling of the cuisine is phenomenal.

Blessed every day I eat Middle Eastern food, levantine in particular.

Thai and Vietnamese and Korean.

Mexican and especially Mayan food all day every day.

Tbh there's not much I'll turn down. Weird and spicy to the front but even a Midwestern holding has been known to be greeted enthusiastically by me. (Will draw the line at Midwestern salads though.)
1 month ago - Tuesday 12/19/17 - 4:50:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
what’s involved in a midwestern salad?
