The sweater looks nice, though. I kinda want my own, but I'm not trying to bite your style

I'm on team damn that's an ugly sweater. I got you, lucky
18 days ago - Tuesday 1/2/18 - 12:55:16 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't like the look of the sweater but it looks comfy so I would secretly wear it within the house.
I wear a lot of ugly stuff in the house so I don't have to worry about dropping salsa on my good clothes (it happens).

Also, I want to play that game!

That is what PJs are for!

If you still salsa on your PJs, the what do you sleep in?! I say no!
17 days ago - Tuesday 1/2/18 - 3:54:39 AM EST (GMT-5)
i feel silly in PJs if it's not nighttime or early morning
i need bad clothes for being indoors in the daytime

and, yeah, you can't sleep with salsa on your PJs. can't risk getting salsa on the sheets.

though...typically i wear sweats and a t-shirt to bed.

categories of my clothing:

- sleep-time-only clothes
- my bad indoors clothes
- my bad but not too bad work clothes (because i had jobs where my clothes might get dirty, worn out, or torn so I couldn't wear good clothes but had to look semi-presentable)
- my nice casual clothes
- my nice work clothes (for jobs that take place in offices)
- my nice date (or other event) clothes

i think that's it

late to the party: Is this a common thing? to buy your boss a christmas present?

My wife said I needed to buy the folks that work for me a present. I kind of disagree. I've never gotten a Christmas present from anyone I worked for. Or any kind of bonus or anything. I guess technically being government employed they can't do that sort of thing?

I opted to take them all out for lunch instead. Unfortunately, I'm also not allowed to buy drinks for them.

I could see buying gifts for people that work for me. But I can't really imagine buying a gift for my boss: the guy that isn't my friend, doesn't need it, and makes considerably more money than me.

me and my boss have a fairly close relationship and work together a lot. she's not like an anonymous higher up or anything, we both work in the same office and work as a team to get all the work done
the one year she bought me a present to say thanks for all your hard work and i felt bad that i hadn't got her anything
so now we both buy each other presents and it's nice

I've always known it to be common to buy gifts for your boss. Usually the employees go in on a something.

We bought little things for the kid's teacher, the mailman, ups man, garbage man,
17 days ago - Tuesday 1/2/18 - 12:14:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
sf, yeah that would make sense.

My 'boss' is more of the later. I would find it so weird. I assume that if we go out my boss pays. If I'm the boss, I pay. Its seems sh*tty to make people essentially pay in order to work. I certainly wouldn't expect anything from the people who work under me.

I could definitely see giving teachers a small gift. And we gave the mail man some $ (I've always done that, but apparently it's unheard of here - he seemed somewhat bewildered). Not sure how I'd get anything to the garbage man without them just throwing it away.

Unwritten rule in my place, you get something for your direct reports, but not your boss. I have 1 boss and 4 DRs. Rule sucks.

I gave my boss (the principals) and secretaries a gift. Just a little thank you.

Sorry Sprat, I don't get the joke.
