What is the most significant figure that you see as having broken a mold and found acceptance and appreciation nonetheless? My mind goes to George Carlin <3 [image] Who's Online | Find Members | Private Messages

beethoven really is the guy who tore apart what music could be and how it can work

lots of people wrote plenty of dramatic music before him but he totally changed the structure of it in a very dynamic way and just forged a new path with blood and sweat and sheer force of will. he turned it from something comparatively static into a weird form of aural literature
his notebooks are so extensive as he just tries to hammer the music in his head into new and interesting things. he wasn't even that good at coming up with good tunes like mozart or anyone, he just f*cking annihilated it through determination

I'd say Marc Bolam broke that mold but Bowie bent it all over the place.

Theobald Boehm. Completely changed the way musical instruments are designed and manufactured.

Jeff gordan was the source of so much redneck rage when I was a kid because of his inability to lose a race while also not being one of the golden old boys from the south and god damn I loved it. Dude cut his teeth doing the Sprint car sh*t which is brutal and also he was a kid but to hear any Earnhardt fan tell it his daddy had bought all his skills and this was the only way the soft spoken California boy was destroying their idol week in and out.

The best part is then he goes and starts making wine on the side. F*ck what a legend
