And no I don't think he has that sort of foresight. He just doesn't give a drat about what his actions will bring.

Lockheed was headed down going into the election, but is generally up since. At or near all time highs, as a matter of fact.

Do you guys all have massiv investments in stocks or why is this so important to you?
The problem with western economies for the last decades wasn't really that companies didn't make enough profit but that the profit didn't really effect the welfare of the employees in an proportionate way.

And yeah, one day, when I have money, I will invest. So right now it's just for learning.

True, but I don't know how this relates to the discussion or what point you're making? (Not being snarky; just wondering)

there is an app called acorn where you can invest the odd money from your debit card in shares...like say you spend $10.50 on your card...the extra 50c would go to acorn and be invested...I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds fun

Right now as a student I'm living in the negative. Also active investing is hugely risky and a learning curve, so I'll just watch for now and hopefully I don't drat up too much in the future

But yeah we have an app here too that does that... I thought about investing in my project company (british american tobacco) but I didn't. There was a 50% return on it in the last year, which is crazy (mkt increased on avg like 6%), so I should have.

But I like to look at the overlooked companies that are unassuming but going strong, and also look at the flashy ones that every sucker is piling their money in.

Also, dr*t investing in the cancer-inducing BAT.

Yeah, that was another consideration. I didn't choose the company, so I was kinda ehhhh when I got it. It's been interesting learning about it, because, yes, they're super evil. Super evil.

Invensting in stocks makes me nervous. The only stocks I've ever had were from starbucks. They give them to you based on how long you've been there and then they vest and you can sell them..
I think I made 600 or 800 USD by the time I left which was really lovely as he Canadian dollar was so low.

Playing the market requires both skill and luck. Most people lose their money, unless they're super skilled, lucky, and likely probably only both (likely coupled with probably some insider knowledge).

That's just active investing though. If they let your money sit for years and diversify then you're going to earn some return.
