Does anyone have daily step goals that they track?

I didn't know where to put this. I know there's a workout thread in O.S. but I wanted to make sure this was available to everyone. Even the 2 or 3 people who are somehow not O.S. qualified yet. So walking is kind of a sport, right?

My current daily step goal is 16,417 steps, because I only do things in prime numbers. I usually meet it without much of a problem on weekdays (my walk from my parking lot to my class building is about 1 mile, 20 minutes each way) but it's much harder on weekends. Also on today because I'm typing sh*t like this instead of walking.

I also once spent several hours writing functions in Python to determine exactly how long I would need to walk x steps which would burn y calories based on historical data I put in. I missed my goal on that day, too, but I knew exactly what I should have done to not miss it.

Is my goal on the high end?

The app usually says I'm in the top 4% of users. But it doesn't seem that extreme to me. I usually can make it without going on any deliberate exercise walks

Also my usual active minutes goal is 169 minutes and I usually make that easily as well.

depends on how in shape (or out of shape) you are and what your goals are. are you training for a 5K, or do you want to drop a few pounds?

i try to target 20,000+ steps daily (and 25,000+ during the season) but yesterday i only hit just above 15k. i run every morning too. but i'm also an athlete so my goals may be lofty compared to average people.

you also reminded me to register for the orange county marathon. not sure if i want to do the half or the whole marathon yet.

I believe that 10,000 steps per day is what is considered a 'normal' step goal.
