An impeachment after leaving office wouldn’t prevent a president from doing radical things prior to leaving office. And if he does something illegal, that would be handled by our justice system, not by politicians.

The point is to 1) have accountability 2) remove his ability to run in the future.
You pretending this isn’t the appropriate avenue to do so is utter nonsense. He was impeached prior to leaving office and impeachment’s are followed by trials in the senate. Those are the rules. If you have an issue with it maybe take a hike to a country more to your liking.

The point of impeachment is removal from office. Preventing him from running again is a consequence of that, it’s not the reason to have an impeachment.
