Not sure why they’re suing Fox News. They’re just reporting what others were saying.

"Fox aired at least 13 reports falsely stating or implying the company had stolen the 2020 vote in cahoots with Venezuela’s socialist government, according to the complaint.

For instance, a Dec. 10 segment by Lou Dobbs accused Smartmatic and its CEO, Antonio Mugica, of working to flip votes through a non-existent backdoor in its voting software to carry out a “massive cyber Pearl Harbor,”

Fox, after receiving a demand for retraction from Smartmatic’s lawyers in December, aired what it called a “fact-checking segment” with an election technology expert. In the segment, the expert said there was no evidence of tampering — something the defendants knew from the start and reported elsewhere on the network, the complaint alleges."

The "others" are actually Fox host Lou Dobbs, Fox host Maria Bartiromo, and Fox host Jeanine Pirro. Who stated their baseless claims on their shows that are produced by and aired on Fox News.

That's a lot of pages to read. But taking a quick look it's just as I suspected. They are interviewing Trump campaign officials, Rudolf Guiliani, a Senior US Intelligence official, etc. These statements are not coming from Fox News, they are coming from people they are interviewing. If someone they interview says the sky is green, that's not something Fox News is claiming.

Well Sidney Powell wasn't officially on the Trump campaign team. I remember they sort of distanced themselves from her.

I'm looking on YouTube for clips of what Jeanine Pirro and Guiliani actually said about Dominion. But strangely there's nothing to be found.

1) You’re wrong about what Fox hosts said

2) You don’t understand defamation law

They had these people on specifically to talk about the nonexistent smartmatic fraud. That was an editorial decision they made, and they knew there was no evidence for the claims (because they're flat out false).

I know that in Noldorland, you think no one has any responsibility to fact-check their stories or their guests' claims, and anchors/hosts should just let the firehose of bullsh*t spew uninterrupted so "people can decide for themselves what's true." But it turns out that's not actually how things work in the real world.

That's why more than one reputable news org has done things like cut away from Trump's press Secretary (or even his own remarks) when they see that the person is just straight up lying. The responsible thing to do there is not to continue airing the lies. It's to cut away from the lies, and make clear to your viewers that they ARE lies. When you let the lies air uninterrupted, or worse, INVITE the liars to come on your show and lie some more, that's how you end up with thousands of MAGA assholes storming the US Capitol and terrorizing lawmakers who are trying to do their jobs because they believe the election was "stolen."

I don't agree that reporters are always capable of taking an objective view of a statement and properly determine if it is true, false or somewhere in between.

The responsible thing to do is for reporters to challenge the statements being made rather than just cut away from the coverage.

Is the Marjorie lady getting sued?

If something is a clear lie (such as claiming Trump actually won the election), then yes. They need to cut away from those remarks.

This isn't something that happens often at all, which is why it makes news when it does. But there are actually truths and lies that aren't up for debate or "difference of opinion" because the facts are literally on one side and not the other.

If a matter has been disputed and in the court system for a ruling, it's unfair to label it as a 'clear lie'.
21 days ago - Friday 2/5/21 - 1:05:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
Anyone going on TV to talk about this Smartmatic "fraud" is lying. They're lies. And the network should be held accountable for promoting lies.

The Trump press Secretary said democrats were 'welcoming fraud, welcoming illegal voting,' a serious charge for which she presented absolutely no evidence. If you think a network should continue to air those remarks, you're an idiot.

Is saying that anti government Marxist protests are actually people mourning a black man being shot by police a lie?

I think you believe that once you touch on a subject and explain it to all of us children that we accept your lesson and we move on and if we question it again you try and give us a failing grade on some make believe homework assignment that you’ve created in your mind.

Fox cancels Lou Dobbs’ show

Cancel culture at radical, socialist media corporation, Fox, is out of control.

Firstly "Fox News" has consistently defended it's position by affirming if NOT a news channel, it's an opinion based commentary channel.

They are not just reporting what other people are saying. They are discussing and endorsing what other people are saying. The editorial content of "Fox News" broadcasts are have always been contentious and are the reason that "Fox News" have previously denied they are purely a news channel.

Secondly Fox News Corporation conspired with the individual defendants to spread false claims against the plaintiff, which damaged the Plaintiffs' professional reputation.

Noldor is "not sure why" because he refused to read the complaint so he can argue from a position of wilful ignorance.

CD as usual is just making sealion noises.

Happy New Year.
