Oh really, how can I get to it?

You can't download the app from Apple's app store.
If you have the app, it won't work.
You can't even get to their web page

Nobody actually shut the company down, they just made it so that it can't operate- - effectively shutting it down rather than literally shutting it down.

I thought you believed in the Free Market, noldor. Why are you so against AWS exercising their right to not do business with a company that was facilitating people planning crimes?
12 days ago - Tuesday 1/12/21 - 6:25:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
personally i find it a bit ironic that a company that is against big tech used a service provided by big tech.

It’s not splitting hairs to distinguish a site/app that isn’t live and one that has been shut down. Parler is able to find a new host or host it’s own site. Parler can publish their own app for jailbroken phones or operate as a web app.

Because they are targeted them specifically and discriminated against them because conservatives chat on their platform. The people running Parler and most of the people the use Parler had nothing to do with what happened at the Capitol. Furthermore, they are behaving like monopolies. I thought you Democrats were against monopolies. A monopoly is ok when it doesn't harm people or stifle innovation from other companies trying to compete. But this is just the big kids on the block clobbering the little kid.

The free market is what gave us Parler in the first place, as a response to Twitter banning and suspending people from the right.

Parler was a cesspool of nazis and conspiracy theorists. So yeah, I agree with Noldor calling them “the right”.

A reminder that a cop was killed.

When David Dorn was murdered in a robbery during the BLM protests (hours after protests and miles away but probably still because of the zeitgeist I suppose on some level) you all didnt shut up about it for months yet you dont seem to care about this police officer who was murdered by Trump supporters days ago...

Conservatives chat on facebook. Conservatives chat on fox news comment section. I think it was a bit more than them just being conservative.

These people are not conservatives.

Loonies of the far left would like you to think so because it paints the image of all Conservatives as extremists. Just as Loonies of the Right like to paint extremist Loonies of the Left as Liberals.

Mostly it's just keyboard Drama Princesses on both sides swinging their designer purses at each other.

They targeted Parler because the company was allowing conservatives to plan violent crimes on their platform, and refusing requests to moderate that content. AWS/Google/Apple didn't drop them because of people saying they loved Trump.
11 days ago - Wednesday 1/13/21 - 6:41:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
But you don't have to take MY word for it.

“Recently, we’ve seen a steady increase in this violent content on your website, all of which violates our terms," the email reads. "It’s clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service.”

“[W]e cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others,” the email continues. “Because Parler cannot comply with our terms of service and poses a very real risk to public safety, we plan to suspend Parler’s account effective Sunday, January 10th, at 11:59PM PST.”
11 days ago - Wednesday 1/13/21 - 7:26:13 AM EST (GMT-5)
Further, Parler was sent screenshots of *specific examples* of posts that violated their TOS against inciting or encouraging violence. When AWS followed up, many of those specific posts, which were handed to them on a silver platter, had not even been removed (much less the thousands of other posts about executing lawmakers, hanging them for treason, and starting a "new civil war" on Jan 6).

So even with someone else doing the work of actually pointing out the offending posts, they still wouldn't (or couldn't) get their sh*t together enough to delete them.

I think the killers should face charges. Just like any protesters that assault or attack people (their cause shouldn't matter). Nobody seems to care about the unarmed protester that was killed.

I wasn't at the RNC, and had nothing to do with trotting out his wife there.

Were you even following the discussions around here, or are you just making poo up based on what you see politicians doing?

out of morbid curiosity, i went to sign up and then saw that they wanted a picture of my driver's license. who knows how many people have access to that information outside of the relevant government agencies.

Did the site say why they required the information?

Doesn't seem too bright for someone to be making death threats against people when their user account can easily be traced back to a specific identity. Seems like the perfect scenario for Homeland Security and/or law enforcement to stop attacks before they happen...
