Twitter has permanently banned President Trump, citing the risk that he would incite further violence.

"After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence," the company said late Friday.

Twitter, which had locked Trump out of his account Wednesday for inflammatory posts after a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol, lifted the suspension the following day.

Late Thursday, Trump posted a short video in which he pledged to support a peaceful transition of power.

Will Noldor take up the case that he said "Peacefully"

"After this, we’re going to walk down — and I’ll be there with you — we’re going to walk down, we’re going to walk down — anyone you want, but I think right here — we’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women. And we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness, you have to show strength, and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing, and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated — lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your votes heard today." - Trump

Funny he said he'd be there with them, but was not.

Funny he said peacefully and there was a riot.

If I had a penny for every time you claimed Trump quotes were taken out of context ...
You know, context, like the riling up of his fanbase for months and all that. You're not interested in that, are you? I can see why you'd prefer to ignore that though.
Like you prefer to ignore anything that has been done to investigate the alleged voter fraud.

In no way at any time did he say explicitly or implicitly to use violence on his behalf. These people, who happen to be a very very small subset of Trump supporters took it upon themselves to storm the Capitol. Perhaps they got the idea for a coup from the Democrats.

Noldor's superpower is he is immune to feeling stupid.

It's a double edged sword.

Double edged at both ends too.

I knew a guy who bought a Cobra in India to protect his money, inevitably he forgot about it and got bitten.

I would be willing to bet almost everything I own that the only reason he used the word "peacefully" is because the alliteration of "peacefully and patriotically" sounded good on the microphone.

As Noldor said... he stated he would be going along and he didn't... That should tell you what his words are worth. Something to keep in mind, particularly when listening to his limp-wristed "time to go home now" speech afterwards.

Bet he is more upset about this than about the cop who his supporters murdered or any of his own supporters who died

That cop WAS a supporter.

He did repeated emphasize peaceful: "At 2:47 p.m., as his supporters violently clashed with police at the Capitol, Trump tweeted, "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!"

The Wiki page on this continues to add interesting information:

"About 3:04 p.m., Miller spoke with Pence, Pelosi, McConnell and Schumer, and directed the National Guard and other "additional support" to respond to the riot. The order to send in the National Guard, which Trump initially resisted, was approved by Vice President Pence. This bypassing of the chain of command has not been explained."

The National Guard should've been called out immediately. As soon as you hear about the protestors breaking through the barriers, that's the signal.

In fact, they should've had them ready to go, just in case. But I guess hindsight is 20-20.

"In contrast to Trump, who only called upon his supporters to "remain peaceful", Pence called for the occupation of the Capitol to end immediately."

Pence is a boss.

"Trump, who had spent previous weeks promoting the "Saving America" rally, was "initially pleased" when his supporters breached the Capitol and refused to intercede"

Don't worry about Trump being re-elected in four years. He's done.

Most people said he was done here:

He isn't done because his fans don't care what he does. The only thing stopping him is if he chooses not to run, or is barred from running (for whatever reason).

We are seeing Republicans now starting to turn on him... but it seems to me that it is only happening because he lost the election. Had he won and had a new term coming up, right-leaning politicians will be lock-step in line with his every word.

Like there were last time.

Peacefully and patriotically proceed to pop a cap in some cop.

Does that mean he actually lost YOUR support because you finally find his actions undefendable?
