Hope you said it in Cardi B's voice. I hope you've even heard her say it. I'd link it, but much much swearing.

Anyway, I walked tonight and went into a store. I kind of hope they keep the plastic barriers up in convenience stores for the future. Just seems safer for them.

When I bought my car yesterday I didn't see a single person wearing a mask. When I bought groceries only about 20% were wearing. I live in red Tennessee.

Oh man, the people on the VA side of Bristol were bitching sooooo much when you guys re-opened and we didn't.

Bars, movies and restaurants are open. The casinos just across the border are open. Our numbers are up but I'm the weirdo because I wear a mask. And people are getting pissy that'd the governor hasn't changed us to "green" yet.

We are in "Phase 2" reopening. Restaurants being able to seat up to 50% capacity inside (phase 1 was outdoor only) is the big change. I suspected the first weekend of that (this past one) would be absolutely wild downtown, and I wasn't wrong. Just driving down the street, I could see lines to get into most places.

Still no movie theaters, even at 50%. But our drive-in theater is open, because it's a naturaly socially-distanced activity anyway. They've been showing older movies (last weekend was Clue, this past week was Ferris Bueller), and it's been at capacity for every showing. I'm sure part of that is people just desparate for something to do, but it's also that this theater is beloved in the community and no one wants it to go under. Before they started showings, they were selling concessions take-out. People waited in 90-minute car lines for their hot dogs and cokes.

And mormons are back in church Sundays. Traffic is about the same now as it was before they closed things down in March.
5 months ago - Tuesday 6/9/20 - 10:33:17 AM EST (GMT-5)
I really don't feel like traffic here changed all that much, but I know it must have. The university is one of our largest employers, and they were having everybody except housekeeping work from home (still are).
One big issue here is that the public pool announced last week that they won't open at all this summer. Pools in Phase 2 are allowed to be open, but only for lap swimming - no sending your kids to just play around. And the river is really high from a week's worth of rain, so local authorities are having to really push the "DON'T GET IN THE RIVER, YOU COULD DIE" line. Tubing is super popular, and generally safe on the route people do it, even for kids. But if you went right now, you actually COULD die. But I know people are going, because they're upset about the pools not being open.

Yes, less and less masks. I guess it is getting too hot? DW is opening on the 20th and other attractions have already been open. The thing about this, is the tourons will take the numbers back to where they live.

Our pools have opened or will be this coming weekend. Unbelievable. My husband asked how one would wear a mask while swimming. Haha

But seriously, as much as I LOVE going to the pool and I know my little mermaid wants to swim so bad, I just cannot feel comfortable taking that risk yet. The mom group I am in keeps asking when is this opening, when is that opening (especially these pools) and it wouldn't even cross my mind to take my little ones yet. They still haven't been inside any place other than to their own doctor or dentist since this all began.

We’ve been to the pool several times. Avoiding weekend since it’s much busier. Yesterday we had it to ourselves for the whole two hours.
My complex did remove half the seating. Put tape down where the remaining tables and chairs need to stay for distancing. Sanitizing spray for said furniture on every table. And half capacity.

The casino in Wendover was interesting. Tables would only have 3 spots open for blackjack and 6 for craps. The dealers would flip your cards over on their side of the sneeze shield and you'd signal for hit or stand or put more money next to your bet to split or double down.
On craps, they'd sanitize the dice between shooters.
On machines, they turned every other one off and rearranged aisles a bit.
The cool gadgety thing was when you entered, they had you stand on a dot and look at a camera like device on the wall 20 feet away and it'd measure your temperature. Anything over 100, you weren't allowed in and the machine would beep the security guard. Under 100, he'd wave you in.
Dealers and servers wore masks.

The casino buffet was closed but they did have the cafeterias and taco stands open. Couldn't walk up to bartender to ask for drink; had to wait for server to take order.
No smoking or vaping at tables which was nice. Also nice that people not playing couldn't stand or sit at tables.

< 10% of the patrons wore masks. ( yes, i was one of those weirdos who did)
There were hand sanitizer dispensers all over the place and signs to observe social distancing with people not in your group.
There were no shows and the swimming pools in the hotels were closed.
5 months ago - Tuesday 6/9/20 - 3:16:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
Honestly, I would not go into/stay in an establishment where <10% of people were wearing masks.

Casinos seem like a difficult place to keep clean, what with all the communal touching of equipment and things. I mean was there someone monitoring all the machines, and sanitizing them between each player? That feels like it would be a necessity, and also very complicated to keep up with unless you had just a very few machines.
5 months ago - Tuesday 6/9/20 - 4:50:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
There were cleaning people going down the rows sanitizing every empty machine. Hopefully hitting them between uses. I took a paper towel, put hand sanitizer on it and wiped the buttons that were pushed before getting on a machine. Didn't see anyone else doing that.
I didn't order mixed drinks, only bottled beer.
The blackjack tables had the best set up in terms of not spreading germs. There was a sneeze guard between players and dealer. Dealer was masked and the only one touching cards. Only 3 players per table max with their spots marked.
5 months ago - Tuesday 6/9/20 - 4:58:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
I would think that the felt surface of the table would be the hardest place to address- - not really something that can be easily sanitized between players.
5 months ago - Tuesday 6/9/20 - 5:05:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
mask use is about 50/50 here, at least from what i see.
5 months ago - Tuesday 6/9/20 - 5:05:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
I was thinking the chips would be the problem there actually. They did bring sanitized chips on deposit. Players didn't directly touch the felt because the cards were on the other side of the sneeze guard. They just touched the chips they set on the felt.
All the poker tables where the players would touch cards and felt were closed

"Coronavirus: Dexamethasone proves first life-saving drug"

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-530...

"A cheap and widely available drug can help save the lives of patients seriously ill with coronavirus.

The low-dose steroid treatment dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, UK experts say.

The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus.

It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.

Had the drug had been used to treat patients in the UK from the start of the pandemic, up to 5,000 lives could have been saved, researchers say."

Just went in to get tested. It's not that bad. Less obnoxious than getting tested for strep. Just lean head back, relax and it's done in 10 seconds.

So it didn't make your eyes tear or string your nose? Good

It didn't even make me sneeze or get a bloody nose. I had one quick flinch but nothing serious.

I wanted to get an antibody test but after seeing so many reports of people getting it a second time, I guess it doesn't matter now.

I am just so appalled that I am seeing pictures and youtube of people at DW with young children when our numbers here are still growing.

It is BS like that...people who cannot just be selfless and sit tight for a bit longer who are keeping me away from seeing my mother. As long as they keep reopening, the virus will keep spreading and the longer it will take to go back to normal. All for "fun".
