The other three complicit cops still have not been arrested.

Noldor, you should read the thread more carefully before claiming I don’t see the point in discussing police unions.

See:

Since you can’t seem to grasp nuance on your own— you’re making the argument against unions in bad faith. There is no point in engaging with a bad faith argument. ***There’s no problem with discussing the relative blame of police unions and reform with someone who isn’t making a bad faith argument.***

You’re arguing in bad faith because you’re not concerned with addressing police brutality. You’re interested in shifting focus away from specific act of brutality, patterns of brutality, systemic racism, etc.

First, you tried shifting focus to looting. Now you’re trying to shift focus to unions.

What has allowed the brutality to continue?

In Floyd's case, the officer had 18 complaints against him but was still on the job- - no doubt because of the Police Union.

The police union has also fought against attempts at reforming police practices that are dangerous and abusive. From the article I linked on the other thread:

"More than a year before a Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, pinned George Floyd to the ground in a knee chokehold, Mayor Jacob Frey banned “warrior” training for the city’s police force."
1 month ago - Wednesday 6/3/20 - 11:43:39 AM EST (GMT-5)
"Private trainers across the country host seminars, frequently at taxpayer expense, teaching “killology” and pushing the notion that if officers aren’t willing to “snuff out a life” then they should “consider another line of work.” Frey explained that this type of training — which has accompanied the increasing militarization of the police over the last few decades — undermined the community-based policing he wanted the city to adopt after a string of high-profile killings in the region.

But then the police union stepped in.

The Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis worked out a deal with a company to offer warrior training. For free. For as long as Frey was mayor."

No bad faith at all- - the Police Union absolutely needs to be part of the conversation if anything is going to change.

Things worked out the way they should have with the arrest of Chauvin. But they should at least arrested Thao. He knew what was going on and failed to stop it. Thao had also been accused of police brutality in the past. As for the other two cops, they could claim they didn’t see the knee on the neck (I doubt it)

...and when I supposedly shifted the focus to looting, I was pointing out that it isn't the protesters that are doing the looting- - I specifically made the distinction that protesters aren't looters and the looters aren't protesters. It was outside agitators acting to incite such actions.

If they didn't see that sh*t for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, it was because they CHOSE not to see it. They need to be arrested as accessories to his murder.

Columbus, OH cops pepper sprayed student journalists who clearly identified themselves as press.

There were two car accident related fatalities involving local cops in my hometown. One involving a pedestrian.

Both handled as internal investigations and no charges pressed.

Sorry. Just saying that even small town cops behave with some manner of elevated legal authority.

Short thread showing the heavily militarized police presence in D.C. today. These photos were taken between 10 and 11 a.m., and there are no active protests in the area at all. These cops are out there in their riot gear just to make Trump feel like a big man. There is nothing for them to police.

Any Bayonets?

Hopefully only up your ass.

Anyway, for Dumbass's benefit: the bayonetted people were the 82nd Airborne, waiting for possible orders to deploy into the city last night. These cops look to be from the Bureau of Prisons. Two different organizations. I know that may be difficult for some people to grasp.

There was lots of talk, outrage and ridicule over Trump's bayonet order- - I thought it was a fair question to ask..

Because god forbid you click through to look and read for yourself.

Sorry I couldn't definitively determine if 'heavily militarized police presence' included members of the actual military or not.

Thanks for the feedback, miserable wench. Lots of scrolling before finding a picture showing what you seem to be referring.

"Lots of scrolling"? The original thread author literally put this at the end of the thread. It's like seven tweets down. Don't be mad at me because you're an idiot.

"To reader who asked: yes, the police are from Bureau of Prisons. They carried BOP gear and insignia. And - no disrespect - they didn't have soldierly bearing."

Besides, Twitter feeds from an anti-Trumper isn't what I'd consider a reliable news source...
1 month ago - Wednesday 6/3/20 - 12:40:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
So yeah, anyway: President is so insecure about being whisked to his little bunker that he's sent out cops in riot gear to show what a big man he is, even though there's no one in the streets and no protests happening at the moment. I hope every single cop out there is uncomfortable as hell in all that gear, because it's about to be 95 degrees in D.C. today.

Trump's plan to 'dominate the protesters' must have worked...

Plenty of language in these videos, but for anyone who's rightfully upset with all the terrible actions from cops lately, the LA police commission let people call in with thoughts yesterday, and it is AMAZING. Absolutely no idea why they thought this would be a good idea. Come for "racist eyebrows," stay for Tony Hawk.
