So after the Commons sat in a Saturday for the first time since the invasion of the Falkland Islands in order to vote on Boris’s deal, guess what they didn’t vote on Boris’s deal. They voted on an amendment to extend the deadline so they could actually read Boris’s deal before voting on it. The amendment was passed by 225 - 209. Indicating that his deal doesn’t have sufficient support. It seems disingenuous to delay it because now he can work on the dissenters to get the last half dozen votes he needs.

I wish I understood this whole situation.

Having spent 3+ years dithering, and saying the initial deal offered wasn’t good enough to accept, they’ve voted to accept the new offer instead - but not quite yet, they’ve also voted to vote a bunch more times before voting whether or not to vote for this one for real. Oh, and they all say they want an election soon, but not too soon since half of them will then lose their jobs and not be able to vote not to vote on stuff any more.

Looks like a December 12th election then.

I'm not much convinced that it's going to result in the way forward being clearer. If I had to call it now, I wouldn't expect any party to win a majority.

A Tory majority would allow them to get their stuff through, but the wind hasn't been blowing in that direction in recent elections (and it looks like they might not get the support of the DUP this time).

If Labour win, they want to renegotiate a deal and put it up to another referendum. They've also said their leave deal would involve staying in the customs union. I don't see them getting a majority.

I think(?) the Scottish National Party want another referendum, and are pro-remain. They can't do anything on their own, though.

Lib Dems want to call the whole thing off, but they haven't yet recovered their pre-coalition levels of support (and even then they weren't going to win a majority).

Boris should have just negotiated with the EU to allow us to have blue passports. THen just stay in but tell the Daily Mail we left. Those f*cks won't know the difference. Problem solved.

Anyway, I hope the Scots finally have the balls to get their freedom.
