No matter what the story is with Warren's heritage, the idea that she's ever used it to "advance her career" is just false.

It certainly is possible that her claim of having Native American heritage could have helped her career teaching at Harvard and/or Penn. I don't think that the evidence is strong enough to make the claim that the idea that she's ever used it to advance her career is 'just false'...

Both Penn and Harvard actually recruited *her,* not the other way around. She didn't need any help "advancing her career," as the schools were actively trying to get her to teach for them.

Also, the head of the Harvard appointing committee has been quoted as saying (about her heritage): “It simply played no role in the appointments process,” and “I can state categorically that the subject of her Native American ancestry never once was mentioned.”

So yeah. It is just false.

Also, democratic leaders called Trump's idiotic bluff today.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/28/polit...

Democratic leaders announced Tuesday that they would not attend a previously scheduled meeting with President Donald Trump after the President tweeted Tuesday morning that the meeting likely wouldn't result in a deal about funding the government.

"Meeting with 'Chuck and Nancy' today about keeping government open and working. Problem is they want illegal immigrants flooding into our Country unchecked, are weak on Crime and want to substantially RAISE Taxes. I don't see a deal!" Trump tweeted.

"Given that the President doesn't see a deal between Democrats and the White House, we believe the best path forward is to continue negotiating with our Republican counterparts in Congress instead," Pelosi and Schumer said in their joint statement.

Perhaps he's a Warren supporter and is covering for her. It's pretty clear that before she was hired at Penn, she listed herself as Native American in the AALS directory- - the 'go to' guide when looking to recruit minorities for diversity based hiring. She stopped listing herself when she became a tenured prof at Harvard.

He's a conservative who served as Solicitor General under Reagan.

And if you have any proof that Penn hired her because she was Native American, please provide it. Or are you just smearing a successful woman for no better reason than you don't like her politics?

I'm just saying that it isn't as clear cut as you are claiming it to be.

I don't think there is enough evidence on either side to say for certain if her claim of Native American ancestry was a factor or not in her being recruited to teach at one or both of those schools.

So in other words, no, you don't. And yes, you are just smearing a successful woman because she's a liberal.

I've provided actual quotes from the head of the appointing committee at Harvard. You've provided nothing. You just WANT her to have been some kind of diversity hire. That's literally the extent of the proof you have.

All you're doing with bullsh*t statements like this:

Also, everything I've read said she listed herself as Native American in AALS *while* employed at Penn. Not *before,* as you've claimed. So you're going to have to prove that, too.

Whatever the issue, Trump shouldn't be using an event to honour some Native Americans to continue to bitch about it.

"Warren had previously said only that she indicated minority status in an Association of American Law Schools directory used to make diversity-friendly hires beginning in the 1986-87 school year, the year before she was hired at Penn. She stopped listing herself in the directory in 1995, the year she became a tenured professor at Harvard."

"The people involved in recruiting and hiring me for my teaching jobs, including Charles Fried — solicitor-general under Ronald Reagan who has publicly said he voted for Scott Brown in 2010 — have said unequivocally they were not aware of my heritage and that it played no role in my hiring," she said. "Public documents that reporters have examined also show I did not benefit from my heritage when applying to college or law school."

Yes, she claims that she provided the information after she was hired, but she was listed in the AALS before she was hired at Penn- - so they had access to that information before they recruited her...

...and Charles Fried can't exactly speak to why Penn recruited her, can he?

...as I said before, while I don't think that there is enough evidence to claim for certain that she used her alleged Native American ancestry to her advantage, I also I think that there isn't enough evidence to make the claim that it was never used to advance her career- - particularly since she was recruited at a time when schools were under pressure to increase their diversity.

Seriously, I don't even know why we're talking about the validity of the statement. Whether it's true or not (i believe not for the record), it should have never been brought up at this event. As usual appropriate is not a word that is in Trump's vocabulary.

Yeah. I saw that. I want to be shocked, but provoking racial grievances is his bread and butter. So it makes sense that he supports people who do it in the UK too.

They are, conversely, absolutely beside themselves at the endorsement. https://twitter.com/jaydabf/status/...

“...I don’t think there is enough evidence to claim for certain...”???

THERE IS DIRECT FIRST HAND EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY FROM SOMEONE WITH NO POLITICAL AFFILIATION TO HER.

You really are a doofus.

I may be a doofus, but I know that she has had more than one job where her claimed ancestry may have been a factor.
