Bad guy legally bought guns when he shouldn't have been allowed to do so, and killed many people. It's true.

It. Is. Already. Bad.

By that same logic, we should make all drugs legal since the laws don't stop people from using them.

May as well. I doubt that it would make a difference in the number of users.

Totally agree.

And I support gun control.

i'd like to see the numbers on that. maybe a test in an area where drug use is high.

i don't think addicts should be thrown in jail, but rather should get treatment. it's the drug pushers and dealers i'm more concerned with.

I just read that the military forgot to tell the FBI about the shooter’s conviction.

He shouldn’t had have access to guns.

Wasn’t there a thread a couple of months ago about the amount of DUI skyrocketing in Colorado?

Is that because of an increase in users, or the portability of the use?

When drug use needed to be kept hidden, people stayed home, but now they can use drugs anywhere and then drive back home.

Mental health rubbish? You're not helping. He was mentally ill. He was an abuser of women, children and animals. He made death threats towards his military superiors.

I appreciate that people are also talking about gun control. It is an issue. But the simply fact is that so many of these shooters have mental health problems and it needs to be addressed, and not brushed to the side as "rubbish"

This dude without a doubt was mentally ill.

I mean it’s reported he escaped from a mental health facility.

This was not a he spanked his kid and got in trouble. He fractured the kids skull.

Still, that dosen’t mean that people need guns.

GGWG showed up after bad guy shot 46 people, had exhausted the ammo from his ar. Bad guy was using a hand gun by the time GGWG engaged him.

No one knows what his plans were after the church. He may have planed to make his stand and go out suicide by cop and not shot anyone else.

That anyone else would have died is purely speculative.

Stop it with legislation n lawz

Oh wait

Most people probably don't need guns. Similarly, most people probably don't need smoke detectors or fire extinguishers either...

"What do you say to the man who stepped up when he heard the gunshots? I'd say he's a hero," Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt Jr. said. "I don't think there's any question about that. Had he not done what he did, we could have lost more people."

I’d say the Sheriff believes that he probably saved more from dying.

Of course they have mental health problems. I was referring to how trump said “this is a mental health issue, not a gun a issue?” And that is what I would call brushing it aside. It’s not looking to address said mental health issues, it’s just “hey let’s blame mental health and leave it at that”
Which is done with violent people a lot anyway

I’m willing to bet the majority of the town believes the same, dosen’t change the fact that we don’t know what would have happened.

I’ll even say someone else likely would have died. But it wouldn’t have been scores of people or the hundreds trump said it would be.

If the shooter was still using a long gun rather than a pistol I imagine he would have got GGWG.

So proud of the Cheeto for bringing up mental health and definitely not

cutting the inclusion of mental health treatment from medicaid expansion (as it was under ACA.)

proposing a budget excluding funds for VAWA,

Embodying this country's misguided masculinity issue (yeah I'll say it here! it runs from "locker room" talk to sexual assault... To gun violence, what do you know) in every way

I'm as shocked about these shootings as i am our incarceration rates, incidences of police brutality against minorities, conditions of holding facilities and lack of due process for undocumented individuals.

More than shock, though, curious to know when the "average" good middle or working class dude realizes he's happily relied on excuses not to do anything other than try to diagnose these issues online while his welfare was reduced to one natural disaster or layoff away from chronic poverty.

Most important thing i suppose is not to think about the brown, black, queer, disabled, immigrant, homeless, foreign civilian, military, innocent lives this world is going to lose in the process.

This world is sh*t and silly at the same time and all one can do is scream it into your little forum sometimes before figuring out how to channel the energy. I get it. Doin it now.

Mad respect to anyone who's figured out their best fit of action to take when not doing that, whether it's saying something to your friends at dinner, volunteering, calling senators, organizing. Going to therapy.

Keep up the fight.
