'Tis the season to complain about Starbucks holiday cups! In what has now become a revered tradition, folks are taking to the internet to deride the coffee giant's seasonal cup design, which was unveiled today.

Gone are the plain red cups of 2015 — which sparked backlash for apparently snubbing Christmas — and the now-infamous 2016 limited edition "Symbol of Unity" green cup, and in are new color-it-yourself vessels, seemingly a play on the adult coloring trend.

But if you think any cup design could possibly satisfy the Christmas season warrior class, you would be foolishly naive.

I literally don’t know anyone that actually gives a sh*t.
I just don’t drink their crap, so there’s that.

They should have a cup that shows Mary, Joseph, and Jesus in a stable, with the three kings coming in with Starbucks coffee as gifts.

I know some pretty religious people, and I've never seen anyone complain about a Starbucks holiday cup in seriousness. This whole thing seems like it's just ginned up nothing.

I do like the color-your-own idea, though.

I think Bird's right on this one.

I think that this is all an effort to get Starbucks some free publicity and/or to try to paint religious people in a negative light.

But, Hillary's emails!

Well, no. It really did start with an evangelical guy back in the red cup times. And Trump even weighed in on it and suggested people boycott Starbucks. So it's not solely something that Starbucks came up with for publicity, or that people made up just to make religious people look bad. Religious people really did start it.
I'm just saying I don't personally know any "everyday people" who were actually upset over it.

I love the cups this year! They are cute.

Funnily enough my husband actually usually does hate the red cups because he thinks they are too plain (non religious reasons). He likes them this year too.

Back in the 'red cup' times, perhaps it did. Every year since then, I think it's been a combination publicity stunt and a ridiculing of religious people...

Nah, people bitched last year too, because none of the faces on the holiday "unity" cup looked like Santa or Jesus.

I'm not saying it isn't overblown, but it does actually happen.

I intended my post to follow up my previous post- - I wasn't responding to your 'overblown' post with the pie chart.

It's difficult to tell when you're serious sometimes.

For every Christian who thinks this is a good idea, wouldn't there also be another one who would find it sacrilegious? Hell, the nativity set i have here with all bears in it offends some people.
13 days ago - Tuesday 11/7/17 - 3:56:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
It was a joke. I agree, I'd say a good 80% of Christians would think it was sacrilegious and disrespectful. Starbucks would really be hammered for that cup.

I'm thinking Jesus would have a sense of humor about it.
13 days ago - Tuesday 11/7/17 - 5:21:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, I always imagined he'd have more a sense of humor than most of his cheerleaders.
13 days ago - Tuesday 11/7/17 - 5:29:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
nah. He would have expelled Starbucks from the Temple, just like the others.

Where would he get his coffee at? 7-11?

If he can change water into wine, he sure can change goat milk into moccaccino.
