I don't think anyone is saying that there aren't crooked lawyers out there, but talking out of your ass in simpleton terms is annoying.

I work for a company that most people don't understand the point of, also, and our fees are expensive. Just because you don't understand how law firms work doesn't mean they don't have expenses.

I'm not saying that they don't have expenses- - but claiming that most of the high dollar awards end up going to cover costs rather than to compensate lawyers is not really accurate. The lawyers are making out very well in these lawsuits, much better than the 'little guys'

The point is that one doesn't have to be a crooked lawyer to make huge profits in class action lawsuits...

Why are you so in favor of companies making huge profits (often at the expense of their employees, the environment, or societal good), but somehow against lawyers being anything but a step above non-profit?

I'm not against lawyers making profits at all. I'm just pointing out that they are the real winners in these class action lawsuits...

as long as the company loses

Law Firms are companies, too, if you didn't realize that.

Yep

Even if the settlement amounts to each individual are negligible, there's a sense of justice when you believe you were wronged by a company and a court agrees. And there's a public record of the company's bad practices that can be used to establish a pattern of acting in bad faith, if they don't change their ways.

Why? I'm well aware that law firms are companies. You're the one arguing against them making any money for doing their jobs.

You accused me of being OK with companies making profits, but not lawyers- - as if law firms are not companies...

...and as I pointed out earlier (about 7 posts above this one, as you seem to have missed it), I am not arguing against lawyers making money- - I am pointing out that they are the primary beneficiaries in class action lawsuits.

I named law firms as an exception to your "corporate profit above all" mentality.
To be quite honest, I didn't really think I needed to explain that, because it's obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Then perhaps someone with half a brain can explain what I said that gave the impression that law firms aren't companies.
