This just confirms what everyone already knew, I think. Breitbart (and Bannon) knew exactly what they were doing when they called themselves the "online platform for the alt-right."

btw, Spencer and his band of happy assholes had another tiki torch rally in Charlottesville last night. Those f*cking cowards spoke and chanted for about 10 minutes and left before the cops could get there.
Local residents/students gathered outside the synagogue in case the assholes decided to go there and intimidate worshippers again (like they did on 8/12), but they didn't.

Not everyone knew. Some puerile were quite insistent that Milo was a comedian and that he was exaggerating his opinions, rather than a neo-Nazi who was nerfing them.

Plus, it's important to point when you have some good solid evidence rather than relying on what "everyone knows" because there's a difference between someone who is insensitive and obtuse, someone who is a racist but not in any organization, and guys like Milo and Bannon, who are active White Nationalists attempting to form a white nationalist coalition to subvert the government.

Oh I'm not disputing that this is a good thing. At all. It's incontrovertible evidence for all the head-in-sand idiots who still maintain Breitbart is just a "conservative news site."

The "he's just trolling; don't react or protest because you're giving him what he wants" argument has never flown with me when it comes to Milo (or Spencer, when people have said that about him).
At a point, when you're actively promoting racist and bigoted ideas, it doesn't matter if you're serious or trolling. A) a certain amount of people who actually think that way are going to take you seriously, and B) you're still amplifying racist/bigoted ideas, even if it IS all just a big joke to you.

So...not gay?

Also, credit to Laurie Penny who did some great embedded reporting on Milo and his people last June. She caught a whole lot of sh*t for writing that piece at the time, because some people apparently can't understand the difference between embedded journalism and "sympathizing."

And this is why I think it's important to firmly categorize what you're dealing with, in terms of sourcing. Embedded journalism is often mistaken for sympathizing, much like satire is. And also there's a big difference in terms of how you treat someone who is just straight up a racist dickhead and someone who is actually a white supremacist (the beliefs might be the same, but the actions are very, very different).
1 month ago - Sunday 10/8/17 - 3:56:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
I mean, I'm not sure how you mistake a piece for sympathizing when the opening sentence (after the intro) is "Milo Yiannopoulos is a charming devil and one of the worst people I know."

In the Sixties the Character of Alf Garnett (Archie Bunker was based on him) was viewed by many as the champion of the conservative white working man in England, when in reality he was a parody ranting racist, played by a Jewish actor.

Sure, and some people didn't get that Archie Bunker was a parody, either.
Satire can be tricky for some people. "This guy is a horrible human being; here's what happened when I spent an evening with him at the RNC" shouldn't be difficult, though.

Warren Mitghell was once told I love it when you take the piss out of the Pakis. He replied, we aren't taking the piss out of the Pakis, we are takig the piss out of stupid bastards like you.

Some puerile don't understand how you can say he's both charming and then also bad. They don't really want to acknowledge insidiousness.

Second time in this thread your phone has autocorrected "people" to "puerile." I love how appropriate that is for this thread.

It's either puerile or peyote... I really wish there was some sort of AI that made predictive text actually predictive of what you're actually wanting to say.

I think what I love most about the release of these emails is they expose Bannon for the pseudo-intellectual he is.

and relatedly, there's a sneaky movement I've noticed on reddit to bring theredpill boys over to the alt right. Chiefly, GLO and robert Fisher, ahem, redpillschool. I'm not entirely certain what their endgame is there. why the effort to convert young boys trying to get laid into neonazi type politics? just for kicks?

There has been overlap between TRP types and the alt-right for a while now. It makes sense in context:

They are applying the same (bullsh*t) theory of "redpilling" that they used to use in dating/social interactions to politics.
Basically, it's a more eloquent version of "wake up, sheeple!"

In dating, they use it to convince men who can't get dates that they're actually better than women, and should act accordingly (there's obv more to it, but that's the foundation).
In politics, they convince disaffected white people (mostly men) that they're better than other races, and should act accordingly.
It's easy to see how the same gullible morons who buy into the MRA/PUA crap would buy into the dressed-up white supremacy stuff.

It's just a bad idea overall to send frustrated incels over into hate politics as well. That's how we make mass shooters.
1 month ago - Sunday 10/8/17 - 6:51:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
It really is just all about supremacy, either male or white (or a combination of both).

Some of the more noxious "alt-right" forums even have a series of steps for redpilling your friends and family (and they do use that terminology), based on what mindset you think they're starting from. Everything from sneakily inserting talking points into normal political discussion (without giving away your ultimate aims), to crazy propaganda videos about how Hitler really wasn't that bad and white people are meant to have dominion over other races because reasons.

It is as scary to read as MRA/PUA discussion boards, and not something I would necessarily recommend anyone do. I got curious after a facebook friend-of-a-friend started using some suspiciously familiar talking points, and found this whole rats nest of crazy.

Right, but they don't CARE about that. They care about recruiting in large numbers, period. The more support they have, the more it validates their movement. Trump winning was a huge victory for them, and especially because he put Bannon (and Stephen Miller, who literally writes WS talking points into Trump's speeches, especially on immigration) in such a high position. It's why it's so dangerous every time he says something like there were "fine people on both sides" when referring to white supremacist rallies and the counter-protests. Even if someone tells him later to go back and fix that, Spencer, Paul Joseph Watson, and all those guys call it a victory for "their side."
1 month ago - Sunday 10/8/17 - 6:56:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
(also, incels already idolize Elliot Rodger, so I'm not sure they need any help with being made into mass shooters...but that is a whole other discussion)

It's one thing to live in this fantasy internet world where they imagine they're in a keyboard warrior fight between the scary SJWs vs. TheDonald redpill.
It's quite another to bring it into real life. Building up an internet army of radicalized young men is a dangerous game they are playing.
1 month ago - Sunday 10/8/17 - 7:16:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't disagree even a little bit. But at best, they don't care, and at worst, that's their goal.

You guys spend too much time on reddit. It's making your mind into mush.
