I'm in her path. Most of my preps are done, I do need to go buy extra dog food, but other then that, there's nothing to do but wait.

I have some friends of friends in the Keys who are freaking out. My friends were down there visiting them before the hurricane got so large but since they are all under an evacuation mandate my friends are flying out tomorrow. The parents of another friend live in Puerto Rico and are apparently riding it out right now.

I'm worried for Florida. I have always loved it and I'm finally going back to visit next year.

"Already one of the most powerful storms ever recorded, Irma could become one of the most destructive as well, depending on its path, and officials from Turks and Caicos to Florida pleaded with people to heed advisories to evacuate to shelters and higher ground. The National Hurricane Center described the hurricane as “potentially catastrophic.”"

And there are two other storms on her tail, right? :(

Jose is right behind her. I think Katia is coming from the other side though?

I hope you all stay safe anyway.

I have a friend in Charleston, South Carolina and he is worried that it's heading straight for him too.

It's a category 5.

My family's all in Columbia, SC. Which itself is recovering from the "thousand year flood" they experienced a couple of years ago.

Hopefully the storm weakens a lot before it gets to them.

And I have a lot of friends in Orlando.

It's lucky that Orlando and Columbia are both fairly inland, but I'm still worried for them.

We're a couple hours north of FL and the city were in just got stuck under mandatory evacuation. T

I was just talking to my co-worker about evacuating. It must be a big hassle. You need to gather up your essentials, load up the car, drive for hours, find a hotel you can afford, and stay there for a number of days until it passes. And when you return, you have to hope your house is still standing. Is that about right?

All I can think of is that nightmare I had the other night.
About there being a hurricane here in Colorado.
Now I'm getting scared that this nightmare may actually come true one day.

WTF, guys?

Barbuda has basically been levelled and the comments here are about what Irma might do to Florida?

Not cool...

oh stfu

Florida's a heavily populated state of our country.

Concern for one thing doesn't mean you have zero concern for another.

This is a good example of a time you're annoying as hell.

60% of houses in Saint-Martin were destroyed.

I know people in Florida. I know no one anywhere else, hence me asking about people ON YT if they're prepared.

So, respectfully, STFU.

I have family down in Cape Coral. They had their flights cancelled. Uncle is in his 90s and with his health, travel options were limited, so they are now forced to ride it out. Hoping for the best.

Do they have some sort of underground shelters people can go to, to ride out the hurricane?
13 days ago - Friday 9/8/17 - 6:29:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe with all the flooding, underground is not the best place to be.
