I`m married but separated, with two grown sons. I`ve had epilepsy (gone now) and have had breast cancer - masectomy - hopefully cured now. I`m involved in way too many organizations - woman`s issues, peace issues, ecology, senior and disabled advocacy, and more. I like people.

I've been reorganized! - Mood:Happy

I had a mastectomy 15 years ago.

Last Wednesday, I got rebuilt. They took fat and skin from my belly and moved it to my chest.

I got a new breast, a lift on the old breast (to make it match) and a tummy tuck all at the same time.

I got out of the hospital on Saturday (earlier than most women) and have been staying with a friend while I recover. First day home today. (And a 4 day retreat starting tomorrow.)

I'm still a bit sore, but not bad. Not nearly enough to be called pain. I didn't even fill the pain prescription they gave me.

On the other hand - at the moment, I look like something out of a horror story. Stitches from hip bone to hipbone on the abdomen, stitches around the new breast, stitches on the old breast, drainage tubes coming out of skin in various places...

In a month or so, they'll give me a nipple and tattoo an areola.
