| | Dear lord, kids are weird. The class I was having lunch with today is the "crazy" class of the school. They're uncontrollable. Their poor teacher is in his first year of teaching, same age as me, and they're putting him through hell. Any, the kid sitting next to me is the "worst" kid in the class. He's just insane, and never shuts up. At one point, he randomly pulled the back of his pants down and started slapping his butt, then turned around and pulled everything down. I have grey hair just from teaching this class for 45 mins a week. I wouldn't be surprised if their homeroom teacher just vanishes off the face of the planet some day. What a weird job. |

| | A friend of mine from England came to visit me in Japan last weekend. He left this morning. Long story short, he's an otaku, and spend a lot of time in Akihabara buying comics, CDs etc. Yesterday, his last day, he had about 130 bucks left. I had to work, and he wanted to make one last trip to Akihabara. Here's how our conversation that morning went. Me: "Okay, don't spend all your money, you need 50 bucks for the train to the airport tomorrow." (this part had been repeated several times over the previous day or so). Him: "Yeah yeah, I probably won't buy anything anyway. And I go to work. Later on that day, after I've come back from work, he comes home. Me: "Buy anything?" Him: "Yeah, got a few CDs. Decided to spend the last of my Japanese money just to get it out of the way." Me: "And your train tomorrow?" Him: "....oh" ...cont |

| | The bugs are starting to come out in force here. Japanese bugs are huge. To make matters worse, I live (sorta) in the countryside, so they're all over the place. Japanese ants are bad enough (huge), but nothing compares to the Japanese hornet. This is a Japanese hornet:
They are ENORMOUS, and they chase you. If they sting you, they leave a chemical in the wound that attracts any nearby hornets to come attack you too. Around 70 people in Japan die every year from these bastards. And these are people who aren't necessarily allergic to the stings.
