What's in a name? (Ah, I want names) - Mood:Indifferent |
|

| | A rose by any other name would not be a rose. To the mystics of old, a name was far more than a mere convenience of appellation. It was an expression of essence, a summation of being that transcended the concision of its finite letters. One way to unlock a part of its meaning was the ancient art of anagrams. Through rearranging the letters of the name, one symbolically glimpsed another aspect of the soul. So, for instance, Cy, to take an easy one, is an anagram of Y C, or "Why see?" alluding to the fact that he has sacrificed an eye to drink from the Pierian Spring of Wisdom. The name of BenDaMan, to take perhaps a better-known member of the community here, rearranges to form "am banned", an apt description of his current whereabouts. So... if anyone knows of any other names that reveal secrets, spill them out. I want names! (yes, it's an anagram of "what's in a name") |

A Brief Lesson in the Proper Use of the 2nd Person, or Cy puts his poetry out there for your abuse - Mood:Indifferent |

| | From what he hears, posting original poetry here can be like sticking a sign on your back that says "kick me". Feeling bored and masochistic, Cy decides to post a poem: A BRIEF LESSON IN THE PROPER USE OF THE SECOND PERSON by CY Here’s a brief instructive verse on Proper use of second person “You” is strictly for referral To a group of *objects, plural*. (Likewise so if thou art speaking To the sort of “royal we” king.) Anyone who’s not a king’ll Take a “thee”, as *object, single*. *Subjects*: “Thou”, for less than two guys. Two or more: Instead of “*you* guys,” “*Ye*”’s the case thou shouldst address in. That concludes this little lesson.

Why are the moderators here idiots? - Mood:Indifferent |

| | "Just a quick FYI to let you know that the following quote-only comment has been deleted from the journal forum. We're trying to control the spam around here and quoting without adding is considered spam." So I point out that there was a point to the juxtaposed quotes, and the mod responds (with commendable speed), "It doesn't matter what your point is, it is spam, it will be deleted if found." That's just such an asinine point of view that it got me annoyed. So I had to get that off my chest. Which I've now done, so I'm happy again. Until a mod goes and deletes this journal post, I suppose, but I'm expecting it this time. |
